All talk and so far no action.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catania_S.S.D.In June 2022, Australian development industry entrepreneur Ross Pelligra, whose mother was born in Catania, was assigned by the City of Catania the right to register a new club in the Italian Serie D, in compliance with Article 52 of N.O.I.F. regulation. He promised to invest ingent economical resources with the main goal to bring back Catania in Serie A, also showing interest in acquiring the Torre Del Grifo training center, built during the Pulvirenti era and considered one of the best in Italy.[18]
The new club, named Catania Società Sportiva Dilettantistica, with Ross Pelligra as president and Vincenzo Grella as vice-president, was subsequently admitted to the 2022–23 Serie D.
This is in Italian but ...

Re: New Owners?
I thought they were buying both?
Re: New Owners?
I knew they bought this Italian club but didn't know it was instead of AU.
The fact we've heard nothing for so long is not good news.

Re: New Owners?
Sounds like we really should have had a rep at the members forum last week at the Joiners.
I would have liked to have gone but it's long hike down from Gawler on a week night.
I wonder if anything was said about the ownership on the night

Re: New Owners?
the deal collapsed a while ago, ross did not want the chinese team to be part of the sale - believe this was (and still is) the sticking point with any potential new owner/s
Re: New Owners?
Very disappointing news, and ridiculous that we come as a package deal.
Will put off a lot of suitors.

Re: New Owners?
I was excited for the Pelligra deal, the links with Catania and what they are doing with the lighting, giants, adrenaline, I thought there was some real promise there.
Piet is welcome to not sell as well, his reign has been good, shrewd signings and some promising youth development. I don't think anyone here is looking for a Saudi white knight, steady, sustainable and competitive is fine.
I do however find it a bit disrespectful that at not one point has there been commutation to the fans about this situation. If Piet is to hold on to the club, it would be nice to see him publicly backing the team in, feels like it's been months since anyone has said anything around ownership.

Re: New Owners?
Whilst I'm ranting (and agree with Martin, maybe these rants should be had at the members forum)
Qingdao Red Lions are in the Chinese Second Division. Not great competition, but surely not awful.
Is there a plan post COVID to get some players over there to both help the club get promoted and expose the player to overseas football. Surely our NPL guys are up to the task ?

"Sources say he is also close to finally completing a deal to buy Adelaide United together with a local businessman, which could see the Reds become Catania’s sister club. Those who know Pelligra best believe he could have a huge influence on the beleaguered A-Leagues through his sheer ambition, willpower and wealth."
Pinch of salt required.
