They'll be, ahem, cracking the champagne.....
surprised they didn't take Yengi given he's an absolute brut of a unit
7 reporting that we are in talks with Yuel. Good pick up.
highly rated player going TO United, FROM another A-League club? I'll believe it when I see it lol
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

New owners usually like to start things off with a bang, even Piet and the gang paid a fee for McGree.

He can't be coming here. He's 27 - doesn't fit the 15-21/35-40 squad demographic

We are expected to announce at least 3 departures tonight.

Yengi will be going to WSW while Tratt has announced his departure on Insta.

Departing: Yengi, Tratt, Toure and Dukuly. Plus agreed a while ago was Timotheou to Victory.

Plus potentially Jakobsen if he retires, and some others are TBC: Brook and Clough.

Barr has been offered a two year deal.

Goodwin and Ibusuki just about done deals if rumours are to be believed.

It’s a really shit situation.

The club and Carl invested so much time into him, both in terms of coaching as well as allowing to him to get his both while also giving him the chance to be out starting striker this season despite only staring a few games at pro level.

After all this, he supposedly demands stupid money that we were obviously not going to pay. I’m glad we didn’t match the WSW as we can’t afford to have big earners spending significant time on the treatment table.

This reinforces the need for transfer fees between clubs.

He sure was. What I mean is all this investment can be made by a club into a player, then that is all for nil once a contract expires because there is no financial compensation from the benefitting club.

Yengi could really have been something if he had stayed. Clearly someone p**ed in his ear that he is the Next Big Thing and that AUFC would hold him back. How he thinks that he will prosper at a club that is the perennial underachievers of the League and hasn't even played finals in 6 years, let alone won anything, is beyond me. This is Bruce Kamau all over. He won't prosper at the Wallys; maybe he could have at Brisbane or CCM, which are much more settled teams, but not the Wallys, who go through gaffers the way that a fat kid goes through a pizza. Bad decision, mate.

Oh well; one day he will wake up, slap himself on the forehead and realise what a plonker he has made of himself.

Losing the other 3 is no big loss. They were squaddies at best and never looked like cementing their positions.

On the other hand, I'm delighted that we have signed Lachie Barr on a 2 year deal and appear to be close to re-signing Goody and Ibusuki. Our recruiting team has worked wonders in the past 12 months - and on 2/5ths of 5/8ths of bugger all money to spend, too.

Barr will slot neatly into Jako's vacancy and eventually Clough will replace Isa (I hope). I'm unsure why Clough has not been fully embraced in this forum; he has made an impact on almost his every appearance on the pitch and scored a cracker against MC Petrodollars - which nearly got us into the GF. He was really only here for the last 1/3rd of the season and as Isa showed when he first turned up, foreigners need at least 6 months - and preferably a whole season - to adjust to the highly physical, high pressure, very high fitness Australian game. So Clough is definitely a keeper for me (albeit not actually the keeper!).

I'm interested to see what new names will appear, now that space in the salary cap has opened up. One of my favorite times of the season is the 4 - 6 weeks before the season proper starts and the new arrivals emerge, blinking and slightly wary, into the sunlight. It's fascinating to picture what sort of team might result, once all the possible combinations settle down and they learn each other's strengths and foibles. Roll on the next season - can't come soon enough for me!
"Hang on, lads; I've got a great idea".

Losing both Yengi and Mo hurts. Both are similar players and keeping one would have been great.

Stumped as to why you'd go to WSW with such a narcissistic and possibly sociopathic coach.

Could be a disaster for him.
