Re: Who's signed for next season
So we're after an Australian DM.
As i see it the options are
- Mile Jedinak
- Joe Caletti
- Chris Herd
- Jesse Curran
- Dane Milovanovic (was a youth with us at one point)
I'd be comfortable using Lia and Strain with Louis D'Arrigo coming off the bench.

Yep this is also my view alsoThe only reason to be concerned is if he's a dud yet still continue to play him week in and out because of an apparent agenda from the owners.Even if our chinese player turns out to be a dud should we really be concerned?
Aleague clubs traditionally take a risk on one visa signing where the player may have alot of promise but carries much risk. Im fine with it.
It doesn't seem likely to me

Jedinak's the only one that's good enough but I would be very surprised if we can afford him. One thing that is in our favour is that Victory have used up their marquee spots. So we're after an Australian DM.

Re: RE: Re: Who's signed for next season
I wonder who we offered then.Only u23 players can be loaned so it would have to have been a swap deal.Rumors that we approached city and offered a loan deal for Rostyn Griffiths. City rejected the offer.
I can't see Griffiths playing ahead of Brillante. Any other HAL club apart from ours seems to be able to get their targets to ask for release from their HAL club and it's granted all the time.
Re: Who's signed for next season
I'm hoping we add some quality soon. For all the talk about our biggest year of spending, we've added McGree (awesome) and an unfit Norwegian striker (who may or may not have valid release from Turkey) all the while losing Isa, Goody, Baba, Stama, et al.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Losing two high quality australians was always going to be hard to fix. I am not super concerned about covering goodwin, with Toure, Armiento and Niyongabire all wingers/attackers. Id rather they get a chance, given we already have Halloran, Maria and Mileusnic (and I guess Kitto).
Defence is a slight concern, we desperately need Elsey to be in form this season. Given he had some time out with injury in pre season, hes probably just more behind. He should have a good year.
Midfield is probably our biggest weakness though. I was hoping Konstandopoulos would step up, still can. But we also have two great young talents there in D'Arrigo and Brook (the later was injured a lot of last summer). If we had Isa, our outlook would be totally different.

Re: Who's signed for next season
A CB and a DM are the two things we need IMO, midfield looks light on and would not want Lia to be a regular starter.
CB is reliant on Elsey (injury and form issues) backed up by Marrone at present. Just seems light on for cover.

Osama Malik would be the ideal signing, DM, CB, South Australian.A CB and a DM are the two things we need IMO, midfield looks light on and would not want Lia to be a regular starter.

Lia shouldn't be a starter in our side, Chris Herd would be great fitness permitting. So we're after an Australian DM.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Jurman is exactly the type of CB we need, just not convinced Elsey can maintain consistent high level performances anymore. Great back up for Jacobsen/ Jurman though.
Disapointed we missed out on both McGowans and looks like Jurman will go to WSW now, not sure there are any other decent Aussie CB's left.
Really interested to see who we are signing to add the quality Bruce is talking about, can't see the Chinese player being ready to go and high level import, seems ridiculous to lock ourselves into a specific nationality for visa players, get the best available and suited to need!

Any rumours floating about?
Seems to have gone a bit quiet after all the noise that was made at the start of the pre-season.

Nothing much at my end.
The long, long off season has morphed into the lengthy pre-season and it just grinds on and on ...

Re: Who's signed for next season
In his last interview, about a month ago, Bruce said that they were hoping to finalise the squad by the end of August so we should hear sooner rather than later hopefully.
