Less than 3 weeks away.
We've been looking good in pre-season but this will be the real deal.
Pretty tough assignment first up. I think we're good enough.

Nix have had a bad pre season. Would be a little disappointed not to at least get a point from this

Probably a bit hopeful to have Adlung fit in time for this game (considering how late he has arrived).
I imagine we'll see us lineup something like this for our opening game:
Izzo
Marrone-Regan-Elsey-Garuccio
Lia-Isa-Matmour
Mileusnic-Blackwood-Johan

The Kiwis have a friendly against Japan in Nagoya on the 6th of October. Durante, Doyle & McGlinchey have all received a call-up. There may be some tired legs for their first A-League match.

You would think that after our respective preseasons that we will win, however playing away in Welly is always a tough ask.
1-1 probably.

Is Ersan still under an injury cloud? Or will Elsey be startimg this week.
Adlung was training by himself or at a club in Germany iirc, so he might feature on the weekend.

Not sure on Ersan but the fact he has had such an injury interrupted preseason I reckon Elsey and Reegs will play.
Not sure who fronted up for the City friendly last week but that might shed some light.

I would be happy to stick with Regan and Elsey. Shouldn't rush Gulum in, especially if he is a bit injury-prone.
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

If Elsey can stay fit he will have a breakthrough season.

Re: Preview: Nix v AUFC 8-10-17
I'm trying not to get ahead of ourselves, but I am getting really excited by this team. This is - dare I say - the most attacking and yet most balanced squad we have ever had before a season. Better still, we have an experienced and extremely wily coach in whom I have total faith. There is not a weak link in this team anywhere and we have blokes fighting for starting spots. Can anyone remember when we had two genuine strikers to put on the park - only this season we have four?!
it will be very strange seeing Carrusca line up against us, but his time is done and his best years are behind him. I still have a strong soft spot for him and hope he does quite well at the East Adelaide Second XI - but not too well. Similarly for Galekovic - he stayed one year too long with us and I can't see him excelling at the EAS XI. It's an unpleasant truth, but that doesn't stop it being true.
As to the rest of the competition, I think that our biggest threats will come from the Smurfs and, strangely, Central Coast. I would have added the Western Wallys to that last a week ago, but having just lost their gaffer, who sacked half the team just before leaving, I think that we can safely discount them. Of the rest, the Filth only have one game plan and once that is found it, Must Kill has no Plan B; Brisbane are overrated yet again; Wellington will be tough in NZ but as they can't win in Oz, won't be able to mount a challenge and the East Adelaide Second XI will be strong in Crimeborne, but unable to win outside Victoria.
Thoughts?
