ADELAIDE United boss Guillermo Amor says Dylan McGowan will this morning decide whether he is ready to face Newcastle Jets.

Dylan’s father, James McGowan, was found guilty of murder in Edinburgh.

Amor says his championship winning centre back will be left in peace to see if he is up to playing against the Newcastle Jets at Hindmarsh.

Amor also dismissed talk that he would not be seeing out his contract — which ends in June.

The Barcelona legend’s biggest clue that perhaps he doesn’t want to leave Adelaide is when he was spotted inspecting a home for sale last weekend.

“I’m very happy in Adelaide and my family (is too),’’ Amor said.

“But in this moment we have to wait. I’m not thinking about next year (season) it’s about now.

“This season and to win tomorrow (Friday) this is my job.”

Amor must also deal with the fact that Reds vice-captain Marcelo Carrusca is livid after he was cut from United’s AFC Champions League squad this week.

Dylan McGowan will decide whether he takes the field against Newcastle.
Amor said cutting Carrusca from the Champions League squad wasn’t an easy a decision to make.

“We have done this for the team,’’ Amor said.

“We have some more players (imports) in this list and finally we decided that Isaias, Sergio Cirio and Baba (and Jae-sung) because we need these (players).

“Chelo (Carrusca) is a very good player and we thought about this (cutting him) at the last moment.”

With Amor adamant the Carrusca decision was done for the benefit of the team’s options in Asia he revealed one new import — South Korean’s Kim Jae-sung — will be unveiled tonight.

But Tuesday’s latest Reds arrival, Senegalese striker Baba Diawara, is not quite ready to make his debut, added Amor.

“Baba next week (he’ll be ready) he has only been training two days but Kimmy (Jae-sung) is in good condition, these Koreans are strong people and he is very good,’’ Amor said.

“We must wait with Baba, he needs some days (to be ready).

“He’s strong, he looks very good.”

But Amor may have to make more tough calls before facing the Jets.

With captain Eugene Galekovic training hard on the back pitch at Hindmarsh yesterday, away from the main group, he is still at least one match away from returning from a shoulder injury he picked up during the 2-1 loss to Central Coast Mariners in Canberra 12 days ago.

John Hall, 22, may be fighting for his spot with Daniel Margush, 19, in goal after copping seven goals in the past two matches.

Isaias returning from a one-match ban will also bolster the Reds after he was the midfield anchor clearly missing in Adelaide’s embarrassing 5-0 loss to Perth Glory at Hindmarsh a week ago.

And with Taylor Regan expected to start at centre back replacing the injured Iacopo La Rocca, who has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a hip injury, the former Jets defender says team morale is not low despite the results.

“We recognise that the situation is bad but there’s only one way to get out of it,’’ Regan said. “If we all went in a different directions we’re not going to get out of it.”

I'd like to see margush given a game. I feel bad for Hall but I honestly think Margush is a more promising keeper and more commanding in goals, which I think we need.

What are you basing that on? His solitary senior game or?

Yeah, I'd happily start Margush. It will kill Hall's confidence but that's business in the top league.

Really feel for Dylan McGowan (for his father actually as well) but it must be an horrendous time for them, if he plays tonight I hope the crowd can really back him.

What did he do differently to Hall that has swayed your decision?

I like Hall's foot work. I think he showed last season that after a couple of games he was fairly valuable on the ball.
I thought he pulled off so pretty decent saves last Friday as well. 5-0 could have been 7-0!

Mcgowan did not take time off when his father was extradited to scotland, i think he will play as he reportedly has not had contact for quite some time.

That being said i feel for the guy, the media did a good job of not linking him with his fsther the last couple of years but now its open slather it seems.

Even if we lose, it's critical that we go down fighting. I don't actually mind losing to a better team on the day as long as every player in a red shirt flings himself at everything, gives his absolute all and makes it clear that he would happily die for the team. If we are then beaten on the day by a better team, then that is sport - but I don't want a single Reds player to be able to say afterwards "I could have tried harder."
"Hang on, lads; I've got a great idea".

Evening all from an atoll in the middle of the South Pacific.

I have two other mad keen Red's fans over tonight (there is a 3rd I've found however he is off to an atoll to the North for the weekend). As a result the laptop will be in use showing the game and hence my participation on the forum will be limited.

Looking forward to seeing Kim in action. No pressure!
