It appears that we are to yet again face a team that is coming off the back of a bad loss. I am not sure how they are going to pick themselves up this week and with the form we are in we have no excuses for anything short of 3 points.

A few ex-AUFC will feature for the Jets which should be interesting.

Bogey will be out.

Expecting a rout but in reality it will probably be a close 1-0.

Regardless, absolutely critical we pick up the three points.

The Jets may well stay compact and sit deep which will make it a challenge to score. Cut-backs may be order of the day from open play. I can see a lot of set pieces featuring this week.

I am not sure who will get the nod to sit on the bench in place of Eli this week as I assume there will not be much space for any of the young tear-aways to exploit. Chances are we will require a bit more guile this week.

These are the sort of games that we are expected to win that we normally lose lol.

I'm hoping thats not the case this weekend, apart from Carney (sometimes), have they got any dangerous players?

Fun fact-
24 January 2015 Jets lose to AUFC 7-1 away.
24 January 2016 Jets lose to PGFC 6-1 at home.

At least they're improving!
IMO considering current form a results. Plus the fact Marrone and Jeggo will be returning.
3-0 is really a past score.

Serious banana peel, this one.

Encounters between us and Newcastle are traditionally low-scoring bar the odd exception here and there. The 7-0 win is probably our only big win over Newcastle in years and years. The next biggest would be 2-0 at the start of 2012-13. Every other scoreline between us both has most commonly been 0-0, but there's been 1-0 twice, 1-1 once and the others are all 2-1.

Fortunately for us, Newcastle have won here just once in several years. I think we'll get the job done to make it an unprecedented four wins in a row, but would not be surprised with a frustrating draw. Tight one. 1-1 or 2-1 for me.

roman poet Publius Vergilius had forseen and written of this season over 2000 years ago.

His famous line "amor omnia vincit" ( amor conquers all ) was clearly a predictions fortold to him by his pagan gods in the sky.

Lets win this!

Jose Marti wrote of the inner demons that drive our coach forward "Amor cuerdo, no es amor" (sane amor, is not amor). Expect some left field tactics!

amor et melle et felle est fecundissimus.
(amor is rich with both honey and venom.)

I couldn't resist. :)

..............Euge
Marrone..La Rocca..McGowan..Elrich
..............Isaias
.....Carrusca........Mells
Goodwin......Bruce...........Cirio

Elsey
Mauk
Pablo
Kamau
Hall

Elsey unlucky to be on the bench but I see this as AU's best line up. Marrone offers more going forward which is going to be key against a presumably defensive Newcastle.
If Newcastle decide to sit back I would be keen to see Isaias pushed forward and La Rocca moved to DM.
I'd love to see Kamau come on and get a run at the tiring defence late on.

So that is our bench with a fully fit squad

Not bad but would like some more depth to cover injuries and ACL commitments.
