Re: Who's signed for next season
Malik maybe. He did have some interest from europe apparently. I know he signed for 2 years but that could have just been hedging the bets amd getting adelaide a transfer fee.
Re: Who's signed for next season
Crikey. We will have a threadbare squad this year if true.

Surely it's something stupid like some rando in the red army going overseas
Who's signed for next season
They just had an interview with Mabil on the big screen. Josep presented him with the shirt he would have been wearing tonight.
Said a few words and got a bit emotional.
What a legend.

This means any speculion over our squad is null and void, we will have many key players to sign yet and depth to fill.
It could be a visa player, cirio or sanchez? Lets be honest we need a visa spot

For some reason, they censored one part of the broadcast for SA viewers, which I think might've been the TAB odds.
For what reason, I don't know.

I think the blanked out ad was alcohol or possibly betting related and was shown in the eastern states (after 7pm) but not here (before 7pm).

Re: Who's signed for next season
Hi. I am a supporter of the Danish Club FC Midtjylland and I have just reed the news of the expected transfer of Awer Mabil, and I am curious to now more about this player and hope you can help.
I have seen a few youtube clip of him. He seems to be a very pacey winger with tricky dribling skills and a decent goal ratio both for your team and the Australian U-20 team.
From youtube he looks like a good player(Everybode does some on youtube;-), who fits our system and philosophy of football, but can you describe the player Awer Mabil a bit more? What is the pros and cons regarding him?
Is he one of the biggest talent in the Australian league?
Do you reckon he is close or will he be an australian international in the future?
In Denmark the newspaper writes that bigger clubs like Ajax, Sporting Lisbon and Anderlecht were interested in Mabil and for that reason it might be perceived a bit surprising that he decided for FC Midtjylland and the danish league.
The advantage for him will be more playing time and FC Midtjylland is also wellknown for developing young players and selling them to bigger clubs(The best examples are the Kiwi Winston Reid, West Ham, danish international Simon Kjaer, Fenerbache and Victor Fisher, curently in Ajax). Furthermore the southsudane born danish international winger Pione Sisto will be the next big transfer from FC Midtjylland to a bigger european club. The Club also own an academy in Nigeria and has recently sold our nigerian star Sylvester Igboun to Russian football, and Mabil will probably be his substitution.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Welcome, mabil was a refugee from south sudan.
He has been in the adelaide united system for around four years and only really just earnt his first 11 position. Although its has been very clear he is destined for much bigger things.
He has pace to burn and is technically quite good. Tactically he has improved massively recently ( bare in mind we have a barcelona manager who plays that style so it was initially a huge learning curve tactically)
If anyone on the pitch disrespects his family, or has a few bad calls from the ref he often loses his head so he needs strong leaders around him.
His finishing has been average early last season but he is still a kid.
He also had a glowing appraisal from guillermo amor who was in charge of barcas famous la masia youth system and spent the whole last season working under amor at adelaide.
Basically your getting an absolute fearless winger who can turn a game on its head but as with most young players he is still a little green.
he probably is a fair way off being first 11 in the national team, but its hard to say about the future as different players develope at different rates.
He probably was not one of the most exciting young players in the league last season but remember he started the season as an 18 year old where as most of the young aleague talent are in their young 20s.
Why did he choose your club? The australian point of view suggests your quality youth system, more opportunity for game time and the strong link with brentford in the english championship as he has previously expressed his desire to play in the epl.
Tried to answer your questions best i could
