Sydney through to the GF 3-0.

They are a bit like AUFC last finals. In form, well rested, only have to play at home. Its their toilet seat to lose really.

I'm a supporter of the VAR but only if it's to overturn howlers. Can anyone explain to me how that offside call that denied them at 2-0 was a howler when clearly Bobo was obstructing Djulbic?

Agree.
I think it was a fair call that should/could have been left to the officials on the ground.

I wonder how much the Sydney players pushed to review at that moment?

Strebre delovski determined that the interference was minimal and that is why the disallowed goal decision was overturned.

Surely interference is interference, why have clear rules and then allow them to be interpreted differently by the referee, the linesman and the video referee. If it is down to interpretation of the rule then surely the main referee has the final ruling and therefore did not make an "obvious error".

Lots of Perth fans are annoyed that the Sydney lead up play that led to the 2nd goal was a clear high boot by the Sydney goalscorer.

You could see Keogh was signalling to the ref that he should be carding sydney players for demanding the VAR review.

How did Kenny Lowe not get himself sent to the stands, he must of been blowing a gasket.

No surprises, sydney fc host melbourne victory in the GF. Might be Sydney's first decent crowd all season.

Their inability to garner more support is perplexing.

They are playing a rugby game at the Allianz Stadium night before the A-league final.

What a shambles.

At least they'll have an excuse for the terrible pitch they would have prepared anyway.

True, it's been crap all year.

Why can't they play it at the Olympic stadium?

Why can't they play it at the Olympic stadium?
In descending order of likelihood:

1. Too Expensive
2. Booked venues in advance
3. Wanted a venue likely to sell out
4. Olympic stadium has an NRL game on Friday and will be in just as bad state
5. Hoping to obtain benefit from what is practically a double header with Sydney Vs Brisbane in the AFL literally next door (more likely if Roar had beaten Victory.)

Bit sad SFC and FFA aren't keen to try and get a massive crowd along. Although I can understand SFC wanting to play at their regular home.

It should (but hasn't yet?) Sell out at SFS though, which is a healthy crowd. But I doubt they'd gain that much from the Olympic stadiums larger capacity unless they were playing WSW. It's also not trivial to get to Olympic Park, so the argument could also be made that it might even get a lower crowd than an SFS final.

The A-League management also don't really seem very good at promoting the grand final as an event. It always sells tickets and does well in the competing cities and maybe that's enough. But it's not the grand event anticipated weeks in advance that the AFL or NRL grand finals are, I'd even argue it struggles to compete for hype with foreign cup finals (FA cup, Champions league, etc.) Screened well after midnight here.

Yeah I agree it's really just something the fans of the clubs taking part love.
Considering SFC could only manage 22k to their semi final. 45k to the GF is probably as good as they can expect.
