I hope Sydney lose.
I have Zero sympathy for the failures or injustices that befall them.

Perth leading 0-1 at the 30min mark.

Correction 0-2 at the 30min mark.

Watched the last 15 to see if there was any "intervention" to help city advance but perth held on to win 0-2.

Sucked in city. Too inconsistent. Too top heavy.

9944 people to an elimination final. City group should of bought a team that already had fans.

Shows how inept Valkanis is as coach.

Can't win at home against Glory with that squad...

Lucky he has stopped coaching our youth.

I think that's a bit unfair. The bloke (along with the rest of the coaching staff) apparently organised sponsors to cover the fees of the entire AU NPL squad for the season before the committee "let him go".

Im sure he's a nice guy but hasn't shown much as a head coach at HAL level

Yeah nothing personal.

I'm sure he means well.

Just can't coach.

I think his results for the AU youth side highlight that he can. He just might not be ready for HAL football just yet. The difference between coaching a youth side and the most expensive HAL side ever is obviously huge. Last night had a lot to do with him getting things wrong. But when the club forces the coach to play a certain system. Then forces players to play who aren't suited to that system and play players out of position, things are bound to go wrong. The players out on to park need to be held more accountable as well. Obviously MV started with the wrong line up. But that line up required the side to move the ball around quickly to create opportunities to create chances. That didn't happen. The midfield trio of Malik, Kilkenny and Cahill were for most of the build up play either sitting on the ball for far too long, or no where to be seen.
I'm not saying Micky is a great coach. I just think his reputation for being a hot head might allow people to want to write him off too early. What he did with AU was excellent and I think the club made a terrible call getting rid of him when they could have let him continue to develop, along with the players he was doing a great job at developing.

The players also have to "want to play" for him.

True. I did think when they announced him that the squad might not respect such a inexperienced coach.

Sydney score a second.
Even with the VAR we have controversy.

This will get messy...

Crazy to think that without the VAR it would be 1-0 and perth would still have a decent chance of progression. I don't know if I like it, the correct calls are being made but this game is less exciting for it (from a neutral point of view).
