The assumption that because they were successful in business they are able to run a football club is insane. Sports administration is a beast in of itself. Just hand over the money, appoint someone to run the club and go sit in your box. I think while our owners have been able to steady the ship, its been a steep learning curve for them.
That's easier said then done though. Hand over $5-10m a season and let someone else spend it.
Ironic, I was talking about rich ppl making broad assumptions, and here I was making a broad statement ahaha.

Definitely not. Its hard to make money in sports, thats why it takes qualified ppl to do it, not just your average mining millionaire ahah

No luck for Stubbins...

Stubbins looked good as our assistant. I confess to being surprised and disappointed at how poorly he performed in the top job.

Stubbins was a successful coach at state level, shame he hasn't been able to replicate it at this level.

I guess its generally agreed that he basically built our squad for the 2010/11 season, and we could've done better if we hadn't had Rini.

But I wasn't really too suprised at the results, Newcastle as a club were on the downslope of a rollercoaster when he came along.

Having fistfights with his players though, surprised they kept him for so long through all the culling.

WOW would have thought Rudan was the obvious choice. Although its possible Mori was willing to take the job for less money as Rudan is surely on a healthy wage with his media commitments and can still hone his tactics in the NPL

I think its a plum job for a rookie manager as expectations are low and just making the 6 is probably seen as a good season.

Aloisi on the other hand has a massive amount of pressure on him already.

RIP Newcastle Jets.

Postby EdDog Mon Jun 08, 2015 2:36 pm

FORMER Socceroos striker Damian Mori has replaced Mark Rudan as the front-runner to take over as Newcastle Jets coach.

Rudan had been the leading candidate, but the Herald understands that negotiations between the former Sydney FC defender and Football Federation Australia broke down last week.

According to sources, the sticking point involved contractual guarantees and a potential settlement should a new owner take control of the club and want to bring in their own coach.

Bit rich asking for guarantees if a new owner comes in isn't it? I mean isn't a change of ownership just as likely to occur at any club? I guess FFA will be looking to sell it quicker than usual.
