Great news for them. Hopefully the FFA didn't have to step in to force this one thru.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has today fined Melbourne Victory $50,000 and imposed a suspended three (3) competition point deduction after finding the club guilty of bringing the game into disrepute.

So Victory cop the same penalty. Good to see the FFA at least show some consistency here. I just pray AU's fans aren't as dumb. A $50k fine could ruin our club!

If AU got a $50k fine, Griff would come out and say we can't sign any new players for the next decade due to lack of funds and threaten that fan favourites might need to be sold to keep the club afloat.

Last September, Jai Ingham was selling sneakers at Melbourne Central. Last night, he upstaged Shanghai SIPG’s multi-million dollar Chinese Super League squad with his new club Melbourne Victory in a breathtaking Asian Champions League clash.

Victory player or not this is a great story and I truly hope this puts other HAL clubs on notice that offering NPL talent a professional environment to train and play in can offer returns. There is so much quality out there under their noses.

Yep this is why we need more matches in a season.

Some of the best in our current roos squad were not even considererd prospects growing up.

Players develop and drop off at different rates. Tim cahill, trent sainsbury, matthew leckie, tom rogic, ivan franjic are players who made the most of someone taking a punt on them.

Now imagine how many have fallen through the cracks in the last 10 years.

There are guys like andrew Nabbout who can turn a game on its head yet for what ever reason fell out of favour with their club and now cannot even get a gig in the aleague at time when they are still developing.

Mooy is another example, he came home and people were not generally impressed with him. Was considered to be aleague quality. 3 years on from regularly playing and he has a 78 fifa ranking ( yes i referenced fifa 16 but its a damn good guide).

I still stand by my assessment that Dexter Rosales would have carved this league up!

Does anyone know what occured between south melbourne and mvfc npl teams that caused the victory to have 6 points deducted and a further 6 suspended? Thats all but confirmed their relegation. Must have been serious for that kind of decision to be handed down

Must be serious. The FFV NPL article didn't mention what took place.

I read that it started when some of the MV supporters made a grab for a SM banner/flag. It is not the sort of thing we need in the game.

More Iceland, less Russia.
