Agreement signed for sale of Wanderers licence

Postby Stuckey Thu May 29, 2014 10:48 am

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has today confirmed that an agreement has been signed for the sale of the Hyundai A-League licence of Western Sydney Wanderers to a consortium of prominent businessmen.

Great to hear. Now the nervous time comes for WSW. I hope its smooth sailing generally!

I heard a decent chunk of the sale money will go into grass roots but where it all ends up will be interesting.
I hope it goes into the NPL making it a more viable competition boosting the chance of it becoming Australia's 2nd division in the future.

It will be interesting to see how there relationship kicks off. Hopefully they have done their research and learnt from the HAL's and MLS' past to see that if clubs work with their active fans a beautiful relationship can blossom.

I dont think it will go well initially.

WSW's fans expect Marquee players and to have their names up in lights since all they know is to be drip fed by the FFA.

If the new owners have ambitions to be here in 10 years time they will need a more sustainable approach and i do not think fans will accept it.

The day Popavic moves onto a bigger club is the day we see what WSW's are all about. I just dont think this is a club whose fans will be willing to support them during the harder times.

I think it may be a bit like AU when Bianco left. It will be a bit of a reality check for some fans that are all too comfortable with the EPL style approach of spend spend spend.
