Harimau Muda A is the club name for Malaysia national under-22 football team representing Malaysia in international football competitions

They are also playing in the QLD NPL next season.
It will be interesting to see how they go and whether is will encourage other countries to do the same. I wonder if HAL sides will be looking at them?

Apparently the side is paying $50k to the QLD federation to be involved. Sound like a great deal!

Happens a fair bit in other countries in Asia. A number of countries play in Singapore.
I'd love to see AU do something like this in the future.
If they have a local side with NYL players. Maybe the season before the players become NYL they spend a season in a different countries league like Singapore.

The Singaporian youth side, Young Lions, play in Malaysia and the Malaysia u22 were a year or two ago playing (or scheduled to play) in Slovakia.

If we could get our NYL side into the AFF Super League when it starts it would be simply fantastic however I suspect the cost of flights would make it prohibitive.

Well according the the ASEAN Super League's Wiki page Australia will have two clubs in it.

No definite dates on when it will kick off just some time in 2015.
Thailand Thailand (2 clubs).
Australia Australia (2 clubs).
Indonesia Indonesia (2 clubs).
Malaysia Malaysia (2 clubs).
Singapore Singapore (2 clubs).
Vietnam Vietnam (2 clubs).
Myanmar Myanmar (2 clubs).
Cambodia Cambodia (1 clubs).
Philippines Philippines (1 clubs).
Brunei Brunei (1 clubs).
Laos Laos (1 clubs).

I wonder if clubs could base themselves in either a central country like Singapore or Malaysia and play from there or have games played in Darwin or Townsville to save on travel time a bit?

It will be very interesting to see how this will go!
Maybe the top two NYL squads can qualify for the comp?

Harimau Muda A are currently sitting in 8th on npl qld ladder with a few catch up games to go. They have small group of very vocal supporters with drums, and the team plays well. Some very fiesty players. Had about 4 red cards as well as two from the bench(coach?) kicked out during a match with brisbane strikers.

Makes me wonder if we actually want them in our leagues?

At the cost of alienating local youngsters/Families from being involved at club level? reminds me of some of the ethnicity that we had in the game years ago.

Yeah I guess it just depends. If they are knocking another side out of the league then yes I agree. But if they are an additional club that otherwise would reduce the league by one club then I see no issue with it and its probably a plus for all involved.
