Football has overtaken Cricket in popularity

Postby Stuckey Tue Apr 23, 2013 12:13 am

FOOTBALL Federation Australia chief executive David Gallop yesterday made the shock revelation that his burgeoning sport had surpassed cricket in popularity before warning rival codes, including rugby league, that "football is only going to get bigger and bigger in this country".

RITCHIE: Has the A-League swooped past cricket as Australia's No. 1 summer sport?

GALLOP: In the 18-34 male demographic bracket, our research says we overtook cricket this summer.
Great to see! I feel with the NPL and FFA cup more and more football will be reported on outside of the HAL season allowing football to creep into the AFL and Rugby calendars. I really feel football has raised the bar this season. The only way forward is on wards and up wards. I'd really like to see some more big name Australian players to come back next season. ADP, Heskey and Ono are great but some Aussie superstars would be great too! Kewell, Cahill and Schwarzer would be three players I would welcome back.
Time to Djbate!
