http://osaussies.com/let-the-cup-runneth/The A League is having its best season ever. Attendance figures are on the rise, the quality of play has improved tenfold and there is more interest in our beautiful game than ever before.
With international attention growing by the week (especially during the recent transfer window), I think it’s time for the FFA to seriously think about taking the next brave step of introducing a cup competition. This would not only mean more football for us to enjoy, but also help bring our league closer in line with other football leagues around the world.
This of course raises the ugly question of how does our little league, with only 10 teams and limited finances go about introducing a cup competition? Other questions like is it economically viable? How do we fit it in? Do we have the venues? Will people show up? And many more need to be asked and answered.
I’ve recently spent a lot of time on both social media and in ‘the real world’ talking to people and listening to their views about where they want to see Australian football headed in the future and how we can get ourselves there.
Some great points raised. Many aren't new thoughts but I feel we are working towards this. I think once the APL has had a chance to play out over a season or two and we hopefully see a positive result there we can look at the FFA Cup. IMO it all hangs on how that comp pans out.
