3 years ago we could have gotten at least the same as the current deal, we would still have NQF at least in the comp. Epic fail from Buckley.

fuck sake lufcmike, don't you ever get sick of being so negative?
Sadly the sad man does have a point. In the old days of the NSL
We were pretty sure SBS stood for Sydney Broadcasting Service, even today TWG devotes barely any time to clubs outside of NJ, CCM, SFC or WSW. Every now and again they feature the tards, but I'd still rather SBS show football than one of the more commercial stations, at least SBS will show the game the basic level of respect. SBS world news tonight12/11/12, stated that FFA hope to announce the deal by the end of this week. If they are involved, you'd think they'd know wouldn't they?

Remember when they got the rights to the Club world cup and didn't intend to show all the Adelaide games. Totally legit respect for da game 420 never forget amirite.

I think all they could afford was the first two AU games and hope they won the third to show them and Man U. Sadly that didn't pan out.

Nah, they had the rights to the whole thing. They chose not to show the third Adelaide match. Changing their mind at the last second after copping a spray in the media and airing it on the 2nd SBS channel with one of the random english-language asian channel commentatary crew streams.

Sometimes they do good stuff but they lean on their reputation waaaaaaay too much. It's things like that and their part in the WC bid that lead me to have no real respect for them

Ultimately my view on SBS is that they are the only free-to-air station with a track record in football & that are likely to give it a fair go. And the A-League needs some kind of FTA exposure, otherwise there's very little room for it to grow.
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

It’s undoubted that they would do the best job of all FTA stations but I feel if it was on SBS it would really reduce the amount of exposure we would get to non-football fans. How many Crows fans are going to flick the telly on and think to switch it to SBS to watch AU? Compared to if they flicked the telly on and the game was already on 7, 9 or 10 as I did with the 36ers if it’s on and you don't really have anything else to watch you'll give it a go. This turned out to be an entertaining match where the 36ers won with a buzzer beater. I learnt player’s names and in the weeks following considered going to a match with mates who were big fans. If it turns out to be an enjoyable game and they mention next weekend HAL continues at a convenient time you would consider watch them next game. Only having one game will make it hard for clubs to gain new fans but at least the league is being exposed to new potential fans.

Stuckey, sorry mate, but bugger non-football fans for now.

Let them concentrate on the existing fans /supporters/ members, etc., for a while.

You'll get more random viewers from the existing foxtel deal. Random sports fans browsing the foxsports channels are more likely to stop on an A-league match than someone looking for Better homes and gardens.

This is my fear too Stuck - SBS isn't super mainstream.

As long it's on SBS1 and HD, rather than 2, 3 or 4, then I think it should be alright.

This!!

cater for football fans!!

One thing all new comers to the game are impressed about is atmosphere and passion of a match. So IMO cater for the true fans and the rest follows surely.

At some stage in everyone life we have to stop worrying about what the neighbours think, bout time the game does the same

Yeah fair enough. I agree the die hard fans are often forgotten and taken for granted. I fear this will continue though. Much like the Tiser's lousy reporting standards tailored to cater for the idiots.

But anyway lads.
Buckley has left and there is still no new TV deal.

Is this a fail?
Has the game been mugged again?
