Heart start futsal side

Postby Stuckey Tue May 01, 2012 6:41 pm

Melbourne Heart recently made a giant leap in its continued development, with the inception of its own futsal offshoot.

Speaking to Heart football operations manager John Didulica at the club’s offices in Bundoora, he described the move to have a futsal program as pivotal to their footballing and cultural make-up.

“One of our key values is authenticity, and that can mean a lot of things, but what it meant to us was doing things in a way that speaks to football people,” he said.

Melbourne Heart once again showing the way in club management! Genius move IMO. Personally Australia desperately need development in the area of futsal as players from Brazil and Spain (for example) have shown close control skills and the ability to get out of a tight situation is invaluable and IMO something most Australian footballers seriously lack.
I would love to see other clubs take their lead and work on the same thing.
And while we're at it work on other sports as well! Melbourne Heart basketball side in the NBL?
Please take note AUFC!

Excellent tbh, would probably cost fuck-all as well. Unfortunately for Adelaide United though it would probably be unfeasible to run a team in the Sydney/Melbourne based F-League...
maybe start off in a Life Be In It wednesday night comp and see where that leads :)
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

True. Probably for a similar cost AU could fund their own league in SA. Maybe if interest is strong they could then enter a side or maybe the league may get funding or FFA money backing it.

Great idea. Over here in Brazil people ONLY play futsal. The country is so disorganised that organised team sport is a rare thing. The skills on show are 'delicious' to watch, and this is all from a bunch of guys who play once or twice a week after uni/work when a court is free.

Rogic came from a futsal background didn't he? He always looks to have good skill on the ball. Could be a good move by the Heart.
