Postecoglou leaves Brisbane. Victory go Greek! Όπα!

Postby sevengoals Tue Apr 24, 2012 11:07 pm

Mr.Lynch thinks it's a good move.
But in the harsh light of day, his decision to quit the club he led to back to back championships in characteristically dramatic fashion on Sunday night, is entirely understandable, and rational.
Big as Brisbane has been on Grand Final days, the club is, as yet, anyway, nowhere near as big as Melbourne Victory...

It is, quite simply, the biggest soccer club in Australia.

So there you have it.
Melbourne Victory are big... :blah: :blah: :blah:

A-League championship-winning coach Ange Postecoglou has resigned as Brisbane Roar with immediate effect, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

Never been a big fan of ange, too arrogant, especially the way they played Asian football. Just another reason to dislike the Victory.

Pretty tasteless to win the grand final and then immediately dump the team, kind of takes a bit of the gloss away from winning the final. Will he be head coach for their remaining AFC games?

I have no problem with it, he handled the situation quite well and showed class.

What does shit me though are people like craig foster saying ange has to be at victory simply because they are the biggest club and victory should always be ontop (more or less)

Which is utter crap, there is no reason perth adelaide sydney or brisbane cannot be the big club in australia based on results and crowds.

IMO if there was a place this great white hope ( supposedly) should go for the good of the game it would have to be perth because we all know what glory used to be and what it would mean to the league if the glory days returned.

We can now look forward to 90% of all aleague news to be ange harry kewell MV as if the media was nkt already slanted enought to syd fc and mv.

I agree. Take a look at the EPL this season. Two top teams are from Manchester. Which is practically the Adelaide of the UK. As far as population goes!

Όπα!
Hellas!

:D
The South Melbourne influence at Victory, for example, continues to grow although it is doubtful if many opposition fans will these days be sufficiently aware of the old league to raise the chant ''are you Hellas in disguise?''.

Lynch and cockerill seem to enjoy having a virtual pissing contest with their own readers to see who has the most knowledge about previous eras.

Of course there is a major south melbourne flavour at victory, they have had some big names over the years and its logical those names would seek employment with the new big boy in town (mv)

The same connections could be made with many clubs, but south melbourne is special just ask them...
