Football Australia might be steaming into the great unknown of western Sydney, but it appears as though they’ll be claiming their territory with two old mates at the helm.

Former Central Coast Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna is on his way back to Australia, after leaving his post in China, and told the Sportsline program on Sky News last night that he’d be extremely interested in being involved with the latest expansion venture.

Probably one of the FFA's better ideas of late. These two have a proven track record so while not. It means there is one less thing for all to worry about!

So the lure of the West Sydney Armchairs is????

Money? - goes without saying

The chance to build a club from the ground up? - yeah right

To unlease the potential of this exciting growth area for soccer in Australia - yeah, there is a real sporting heritage among the new migrant communitites in Lakenbah and Bankstown.

The guarantee by the FFA of trophies in the first year - most likely

Money - that too

Sounds like they are going to be called West Sydney Wanders. I'm happy enough with that.

AFTER months of waiting, western Sydney's new A-League team is taking shape with a club name, logo and the first group of players to be announced this month.
The club has less than five months to assemble a 23-man squad and have already set their sights on signing out-of-contract Australian skipper Lucas Neill to a marquee player deal.

The western Sydney's outfit's newly appointed executive chairman, Lyall Gorman, told Fox Sports this week he'd make Neill an offer "too good to refuse".

Too good to refuse? Considering his usual wage demands that would be bloody high! Neill and Wanders would be a perfect fit though IMO. What better place for one of the FFA's mouth pieces then at a FFA run club?

Being a bit harsh,

What has Neil everdone wrong by the australian game or community?

I just find ever time the socceroos play and the FFA needs someone to stick up for them on some issue they're buggering up, he's the first to do it. He always seems to toe the 'party line'. When other big Oz players get interviewed like Harry or Timmy they appear to say what they want to say. I just feel Lucas is reading from a pre-prapared FFA approved script everytime I hear from him. Maybe I am being harsh its just the way I feel. As for his wages demands its very well documented how generally he goes to the club who pays the most. I agree you have to take care of yourself in life but in the end it highlights where his loyalties are.

YOUNG Socceroos Aaron Mooy is a step closer to join the A-League's new western Sydney club after being granted a free transfer from SPL outfit St Mirren.

Good for WS? Yes.

Good for A-League? Yes.

Good for Mooy's development and the Soceroos future? I'm doubtful.

Vidosic is a prime example.

Vidosic is not a prime example of the league killing a career, it is however an example of how a player in poor form wont make to roos.

Staying in scotland playing for a lowly ranked club cannot possibly be any better then playing regularly in the aleague
