Tinkler and the Jets
Why can't these people at least wait until the bloody Grand Final before imploding?

Re: Tinkler and the Jets
If CCM cannot secure funding they are also gone, if Sage is waiting til PG are out of the final before pulling out as well we can kiss the HAL & the FFA goodbye.

Re: Tinkler and the Jets
Sigh.
I am seriously starting to wonder about the FFA.. Charging different clubs different amounts for licenses etc etc

Re: Tinkler and the Jets
Buckley and ffa do not accept the license being handed back, tinkler brought a ten year license.
To me, tinkler seemed to be on palmers side rather silently, after only having the club for a year to me tinker hasnt even tried.
Its been clear the ffa has been trying to work closer with clubs of late so i dont understand tinkler just throwing the toys out of the pram.
When tinkler got involved he spoke about bringing the game back to the locals, after only 12 months it doesnt seem as if he gives a shit about them ,

Whom is Buckley going to force to keep the license? The assetless dummy corporation that runs NJ?

Imo i think this is a ploy just like sage to get a better deal.
But shit needs to change , if you lower crowd averages by 6 grand things suddenly resemble the NSL

Re: Tinkler and the Jets
Exactly, part of the problem is that the FFA isn't anouncing any changes - the only thing they have done is announce that WS will be 100% funded by them, that even though they wouldn't let anyone else do it they are going to allow direct community investment into the club and that they are not in the business of owning clubs (outside of capital cities).

Re: Tinkler and the Jets
firstly, clearly this thread should be called 'B-B-B-Benny Buckley and the Jets' but i'll shall forgive you.
on a serious note, this is extremely worrying. what's the FFA gonna do, throw a heap of cash at Canberra now to replace Newcastle? i've always been optimistic that the league will last and still remain that way, but am starting to worry that i'm wearing rose tinted glasses and not noticing that this is a sinking ship. without the A-League, where does United go?...
here is HSG's statement, which has some good points. almost all problems in this league that arise, seems to be from a lack of communication between the governing body and the clubs. HSG note that they will continue to put money into football in the Newcastle area, just not through the A-League

Re: Tinkler and the Jets
Come on, who seriously though the whole Palmer thing was going to just go away? The owners are PISSED at the way FFA is run.
And without teams, there's no league. So they're going hard for the changes they want made to help them not piss money against the wall in order to own a club.
Why now? Because the media will have a field day talking up this year as 'possibly the last' HAL Grand Final, meaning more coverage for the owners who will play Buckley, Lowy and co as the bad guys in all this.

Not having a newcastle club in the national league is madness and imo it will be sorted out.
I dont think this is all ffa here though, tinkler agreed to the license cost for an already established club , which clearly should cosy alot more then palmer who was starting his own club and therefor incuring more risk!!!!
Why is it only the mining magnates tinkler palmer and sage who goto such extremes? Actually ill leave sage out of the argument as he has bleed for his club and its clear he has so much passion for it.

Re: Tinkler and the Jets
I can't imagine how much further this can possibly go. The FFA have to budge on a lot of issues. Otherwise its will be just West Syd next season and the FFA will have nothing to do but play with themselves!

Re: Tinkler and the Jets
Which is exactly why FFA has to give in more than they'd like. Renegade owners have the HAL over a barrel right now, and while I don't hold any genuine fear it will collapse - yet - it will be very, very interesting to watch this play out.I can't imagine how much further this can possibly go.
