I think at this point the HAL clubs are living up to their end of the deal. There has been a lot of quality signings made this off-season.
WSW announce their second marquee. Álvaro Cejudo formerly of Real Betis.

33 year old winger, not a great scoring record but that means nothing coming from a decent league to the HAL as we all know. Not sure the length of the deal but you would want to get a lot out of a 33 yo instantly.

Yeah true. I was quite skeptical about Castro when he signed. Partly due to his age, and partly due to me not wanting Spaniards at other clubs at the time...

Diego Castro is the obvious comparison. He has been excellent and this fella could very well be as well. For comparison Cirio was a very good A-league player and he was from the third division in Spain.

The worst thing about WSWs spanish revolution is that it's WSW and they think that they invented spanish football in Australia... and by they I mean the club, the fans, the east coast media and the FFA.

We've already surpassed the spanish phase and are on to the much better and more impressive German phase lol

A good signing, I am not sure he is quite as good as Vukovic but will be a reasonable replacement.

The mariners have made some decent signings this off season - on paper. They'll probably have a good season and then all of their best players will piss off to the sydney and melbourne clubs and then they'll swap their mediocre players for Newcastle's. It's a shame, they haven't been able to get off the ground since Graham Arnold left.

..... and then they get knocked out of the FFA cup by an NPL team by conceding 2 goals in the first 16 minutes of the game. Maybe I jinxed them, oops.
CCM 2 - 3 Blacktown.

Ross McCormack to Melbourne City as an injury replacement for Fornaroli.

AFAIK the rule is that a replacement player can only earn a similar amount to the player they are replacing. Fornaroli is a marquee so I'm not sure if there is a cap on McCormack's wage.

Possibly. But the real question is, does he pluck this eyebrows?

Fornaroli is telling everyone he'll be back in december so Ross hasn't got long to settle in before he's gone.
