i'm pretty positive that we'll begin to close the gap of quality on Brisbane as the season unfolds.

just on the weekend gone there were plenty of examples of great vision coming from players, but it just wasn't quite working out. as well as strings of passes that just didn't quite end in chances.

i feel quite confident that our quality will continue to improve as finals approach. let's just hope by then, Brisbane aren't on an even higher level of skill and team movement.

i'm looking at the room for improvement as a positive. more jaw dropping assists from Flores please!

Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United have raised the game to a whole new level in this league. Just enjoy that fact alone.

Roars players will get stolen like ours have over the years.

Plus im really enjoying the fact that no MV or SFC up near the top. So bring on the Major Semi already!

Yeah their quality is scary. But they had trouble against Newcastle and NQF of late so they're not unstoppable (like any team for that matter). Who knows, anything can happen in the finals. If we get Leckie back before the last game against them at Hindmarsh, I reckon we will give it a fair old crack!

They have been tested in the past few weeks, but were back to their best yesterday. And I think United have gotten the worst out of the way- at least until they play Melbourne Victory again!

There is no way that BR deserve the trophy yet. It is over the course of the season that the Premier is decided, we have 2 games in hand and can match BR on points with 2 more wins. We could very easily pip them at the post as they may not be losing games but are having a fair old run of draws (especially in games they should of won). They could quite easily go on a Liverpool title run and get pipped by us by 1 point.

As for the toilet seat, it is only important if we don't get the Plate and entry into the ACL.

Ridiculous... the Championship (aka toilet seat) is the pinnacle of Australian Football, imo it's absurd to stubbornly ignore this just because overseas they don't have finals.

This is how I rate the importance of AU's possible competitions.

#1 - Club World Cup Winner (possible, just not realistic)
#2 - AFC Champions League Winner
#3 - A-League Champion (you know, the winner of the Grand Final)
#4 - A-League Premier (topping the table)

Now personally, I see qualifying for the ACL as almost a minimum, it's become such an important part of AU's identity & success.
I just won't be happy with losing another grand final after finishing in the top 2.
One of the most successful clubs in the A-League needs to actually win something more than a couple of pre-season cups.

Whether you disagree or not, that's how it is.
Which hurt more in the 08/09 season, missing the Premiership on goals scored or losing the Grand Final?

I'm guessing you'll probably answer in favour of your argument, but I think most people would say the Grand Final hurt more.

fwiw, I'm disappointed that players & coaches refer to our premiership as the "Minor Premiership", I think that the Premiership should be held in much higher esteem than it currently is.

We don't have the same culture as Europe, teams with no hope of winning after 2/3 of a season is going to turn away fans.
We just can't afford that in the name of some sort of football purity.
A finals series at the end of the season is part of Australian sporting culture.

Didn't say we shouldn't have finals. Like you say, if we didn't have finals AU fans and Brisbane fans would be the only fans still going to games (not that the roar fans go anyway).
