Re: FFA Cup Round of 16: Lions FC vs Adelaide United

Who is Paul Wilson? What position? NPL club?
A centre back who has been playing with the youth team. He was on the bench last year when we knocked Newcastle out the cup.
Thanks, i was hoping he'd be a promising local LB, oh well.

Re: FFA Cup Round of 16: Lions FC vs Adelaide United

We look like shite, will be happy to get out of this with the result.

Maybe Ilso can liven things up a bit.

Re: 2018/19 Season Could be AUFC most important

Looks like Aurelio Vidmar could be back at the club.

I like it, he's not the perfect coach but has some areas of strength, set pieces and so forth.

Had always assumed brother Tony would be next in line after Kurz as well.

Re: Walkout song

Pogues is good, Hoods would be better.

Wonderwall belongs with Ricky Martin - Cup of Life.

INXS would be a bit copycat at this point in South Australian sporting history....

Re: Who's signed for next season

I don't see any problem with the young SA lads waiting, training, learning from better players. Even if we have 5 wingers, the opportunity will still come for our SA youngsters if they're patient. Most likely we'll have injuries and they'll get their chance. Some won't wait and we'll lose them inte...

Re: Who's signed for next season

Anyone know anything about Carlo Armiento?

This time last year it was Josh Mori as the midfielder who kept finding the net, now it's Armiento.

Re: Who's signed for next season

On paper this guy looks alright, LB, Asian, won trophies, plays at international level, still young enough.

Currently on a free.

Re: RE: Re: Who's signed for next season

I hope the club shows more faith in the young SA players than some of the posters in this thread. There is a time and a place for the young SA players to step up and stake their claim. We also have to be competitive. No use blooding youth for the sake of parochialism just for them to go for free to...

Re: Who's signed for next season

I don’t like the fact he has been in Singa/Malaysia so long but I do like the fact he has dominated whilst he has been there.

Sometimes players find it hard to adjust to the step down (That tall Spanish CF we had), sometimes they don’t.

I’m remaining positive on this one.

Re: Who's signed for next season

I'm guessing the longer contracts are due to the liklihood of two new teams entering the comp.
1. To avoid poaching from the newcomers
2. Salary cap may rise, thus devaluing existing deals

Either way, im all for it.

Re: Who's signed for next season

Missing out on Mauk is a bit of a blow but if his attitude is that of Troisi then so long. Would have thought a mid of (DM) Isaias, (Box-Box) Mauk and (No10) VISA would have been ideal. I was one of those that never particularly rated Mabil that highly, perhaps he's refined his game o/s. Would happi...

Re: Who's signed for next season

It's a great signing on so many levels: - Signed early - Brought home a local lad - Quality LB/LW - 3 year deal shows intent Personally I think Goodwin could still play O/S and I hope there is a minimum clause in the contract because he's still only 26 and probably has another crack left. Well done ...
