Re: WS Wanderers v Adelaide United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

Halloran has to come off at the half - totally invisible and then he fell over on the one dangerous run that I saw him make. Losing Isa is a real blow; he is our midfield muscle and opens the space for Clough and D'Arrigo to work in. That said, both of them are looking sharp, if still getting muscle...

Re: WS Wanderers v Adelaide United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

I'll happily take a 2 - 1 away win at this point. I can't see us keeping WSW scoreless with Brandon Borello in the form that he is in. Equally, I can't see them keeping our frontline out for more than about the first twenty minutes. This could even be a GF preview. MC Petrodollars have gone right of...

Re: HAL Expansion

Won't the Macarthur hierarchy stop a promoted Wollongong team stone cold dead? They won't want their backyard eaten up by a rival side on their own patch. BP was dead right - it should have been the Wollongong Wolves from the start, instead of creating a plastic team (Macarthur) and then somehow exp...

Re: Goodwin

Graham Arnold was voted the best coach of the World Cup by the French press. Who else would have had the courage to change our shape in the 80th minute against Argentina to a front 5?? It damn near worked too, with Garang Kuol only inches away from equalising at the death.

Re: HAL Expansion

The problem is the plastic teams - Western United and Macarthur - and their lack of history or established support. As they have been created out of nothing, there is no local allegiance to give a reliable core support group. Moreover, their stadiums are terrible, so there is no atmosphere to bring ...

Re: Adelaide United - General Issues and Discussion

Roy Hodgson's teams rarely suffer blowouts, but then they rarely score more than 2 goals per match. Him and Switzerland were a good match in that respect; both dour, defensive, fairly dull.

Re: Adelaide United - General Issues and Discussion

That's actually an option I hadn't even considered. Is Roy H unemployed at the moment?

Re: Adelaide United v Wellington Phoenix Match Day Jamboree!!!©

Hmm ... it seemed like Jovanovic was constantly on the RW so I assumed that was his spot. I thought that Clough was more central, but I stand corrected. :-)

Re: Adelaide United - General Issues and Discussion

This may be the wrong thread to post this in - but Crystal Palace just sacked Patrick Viera as their gaffer. Given CV's history with Palace, which he has openly said was his all time favourite club in his own career - what chance do we think that Palace might come knocking for CV's services? It woul...

Re: Adelaide United v Wellington Phoenix Match Day Jamboree!!!©

There was so much to like about last night, but most importantly, it was proof that good teams find a way to win even when they don't play well. We were largely outplayed for all of the first half by Welly and should have been down 2 - 0 or 3 - 0 by halftime, but the combination of horrible Welly er...

Re: Preview: Adelaide United - Wellington Phoenix 17.03.23

We will fall behind and be 1 - 0 down at the half, CV will rev them up at half time, the boys will come out breathing fire and score in the first 5 minutes of the second half and then Nestory will do his thing at the end, as he always does. 2 - 1 to us, but a very hard fought 2 - 1. Then the rest of...

... and the filth just lost AGAIN, which means that they are well and truly out of finals contention. All they can do now is to try to avoid their second wooden spoon in 3 years.

On the weekend when both the men's and women's AUFC teams won, could this weekend get any better??

Re: Newcastle Jets v Adelaide United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

I reckon that this was our most complete performance of the season so far, with a team that has perhaps half the personnel that CV would choose as his first choices. Given that we have played (at times) our third choices in most of the outfield positions, to have about half the side back and firing ...
