Preview - AUFC vs the filth

I really can't pick this one. I have a gut feeling that the filth will throw everything they have at us for the first 15 minutes and if we can weather that and maybe grab a goal on a breakaway, then we could be ok. It would be wonderful to hit them really hard and inflict a heavy defeat on them in t...

Re: Carl Veart

Premature emasculation? Carl has achieved at a good level for the past three years, while maintaining the youth strategy. (Most managers, when it gets tough just default back to experience.) Semi-finalists three years in a row. Year on year improvement in ladder position - 5th, 4th, 3rd. Best leagu...

Re: WS Wanderers v Adelaide United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

It just wasn't our night; no need to hit the panic button. Their goal was more than a tad fluky and we could have had 3 in the second half, as others have noted. Sometimes it's only centimetres between the ball going in and bouncing out again. Clough continues to grow into the side and into his lead...

Re: Adelaide United v Sydney FC Match Day Jamboree!!!©

I think it's a bit harsh to start dismissing Tunnicliffe - and Clough has already proven himself. It took 6 months for Isaias to prove himself when he first turned up and there were plenty calling for him to be sacked, not just dropped, before he gained a feel for the pace and the strength of the Au...

Preview - AUFC vc Sadney

Sadney just sacked Corica. The board announced it in a way that made it sound like he walked, but it was a "walking the plank" situation - either you walk, or we shoot you anyway. This is very bad news for us. Before Corica's execution, this would have been a walkover for us. Now Sadney will have th...

Re: Melbourne Victory v Adelaide United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

I wonder if the filth will turn to blatant hacking, once they fall behind? They were traditionally the most brutal team in the league when MustKIll was coaching them. Maybe they have grown up from constant hacking, tackles from behind and shirt pulling, but I doubt it.

MC Petrodollars just sacked Rado Vidosic and appointed Aurelio Vidmar.

Curiouser and curiouser.

Re: Preview: Melbourne Victory - Adelaide United 04.11.23

I'm quietly confident about this one. Choke off the service to Fornaroli and they actually look a bit thin; the Jest would have won 3- 1 without Fornaroli's 45 minutes of mayhem in the first half. Once they shut down his service, the Jest looked the better side and actually won the half. If we do be...

Re: Preview: Adelaide United vs Melbourne City 29.10.23

MC Petrodollars hate coming here. We are their Kryptonite and they know it. An international trip just before a trip to Coopers is exactly what they don't want. We could well be 2 and 0 after this weekend - and MC Petrodollars could be the exact opposite - 0 and 2. Interesting times.

Re: Adelaide United v CC Mariners Semi-Final First Leg 2023 Match Day Jamboree!!!©

CV will have emphasised the criticality of not being opened up by a high press, which we conspicuously were in the previous 2 matches against CCM. They just absorbed everything that we threw at them - and, it must be said, rode their luck a bit too - and then flew at us on the counter and prospered....

Re: Adelaide United v Wellington Pheonix Elimination Final 2023 Match Day Jamboree!!!©

Barnett and Javi Lopez are vying for player of the match at the moment - and Javi is just ahead. Goodwin doing Goody things. Halloran's confidence is so shot that even his crossing, which used to be exemplary, has fallen to bits. Blackwood ... oh George ... For all our dominance, though, we haven't ...

Re: Adelaide United v Wellington Pheonix Elimination Final 2023 Match Day Jamboree!!!©

As long as we score first - and preferably within the first 15 minutes- we'll be fine. If the Nux score first, though, Talay will play a back 5, shut down everything, leave Zawada alone up front and we will have yet another 1- 0 home loss - and a straights set exit from finals, when a month ago we w...

Re: Perth Glory v Adelaide United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

What a pathetic defensive effort , this has been happening all season, can’t believe CV has not fixed this problem , come finals this will be our downfall , warland either doesn’t talk much out there or he is crap , he has a lot of errors in his game . Injuries in the midfield has not helped either...
