Re: Women's World Cup 2023

Great night! Brazil just an absolute class above (as expected). That 3rd goal was immaculate.

Re: Women's World Cup 2023

Well this is almost upon us and it's fair to say I'm excited! Big ask for 52nd-ranked team Panama coming up against Brazil in the first match, but I always love to see an underdog doing well. I'm guessing / hoping Brazil will bring a big and boisterous support, as always - and of course we'll get to...

Re: Who's signed for next season

On Cavallo as a footballer, I think he's great to have as a squaddie, and versatile across a few problem positions, so on that basis alone (especially if D'Arrigo is gone) I'd keep him. Nobody is saying he's a first XI starter if everyone is fit, but agree with EdDog that he's shown enough quality a...

Re: WSW sign Lachlan Brook

Brook has so much potential and was just starting to show it when he went overseas. Massive bummer he's heading elsewhere

Re: Adelaide United v CC Mariners Semi-Final First Leg 2023 Match Day Jamboree!!!©

Could certainly have used Barnett & Barr. Overall I don't think it was a question of not 'wanting it enough' or 'workrate' like some of the commentary has been, but sharpness. Just like their other games against us Mariners were switched on, 100%, and thinking a pass ahead in terms of movement. Some...

Re: Nestory Iraknunda

Welcome back bundibundi! You are right there, they've worked us out and the better teams have been able to do something about it. B) Straight away they knew they needed to put on someone sharp, quick enough to keep up, and unafraid of a bit of niggle to stop him - Farrelly. He did a great job on hi...

Yeah Hiro / Blackwood is my only question mark - I'd probably start Blackwood then get Big Hiro off the bench in the 2nd half to throw himself around

There is also the boycott the finals series thing but not sure how strong that movement is. Sent from my SM-S918B using Tapatalk That is the reason I stayed home. I watched the game, and tbh was envious of those that were there, but honestly if we send the message that we'll keep swallowing the APL...

Season's over as far as I'm concerned, I'll watch the finals series on TV but really not invested in it.

Re: Defensive fix suggestion box

A designated sweeper / libero playing in front of the two centre halves who is able to carry the ball forward when the situation arises or play long passes out to the breaking wingers/forwards. B) that was Isaias under Gombau/Amor. It's his best role, but dunno if he still has the sharpness for it

Re: Adelaide United v Western United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

Yeah. WU worked out that we are good when we're counterattacking into space, not so good when we have to pick our way through a packed defence sitting deep. We did have the chances, on another day a couple of those would have gone in, but pretty much we get done in by the opposition playing a compac...

Re: AUFC: Back in Asia?

I really miss our ACL campaigns, some of the most fun games at Hindmarsh. Just a totally different vibe and I don't know why other A-League fan bases never really embraced the comp in the same way.

Re: AUFC: Back in Asia?

Courtney Barnett had a cracking game against Sydney, can't believe he was subbed off so early. Isaias is a loss but Barnett & D'Arrigo getting lots of time together will be good to see.

Re: AUFC: Back in Asia?

I'm surprised that the state's biggest company, Santos, has not picked up on the national exposure of AUFC. It would be a very good expression of their 'soft power' .... especially given that the green nimby morons are determined to shut them down. my partner worked for Santos for many years. The c...
