Re: The Road to Russia 2018

Loved his comment about getting good grass roots support (contrasted to the self important commentators). Even tonight Fox commentary saying how Asia is an easier route to the WC. Sure. 22 games against the best in Asia, compared to a walk in the park in Oceania then just two hard games against inte...

Re: The Road to Russia 2018

In Ange we trust. I chuckled at his comment about not being accepted because he didn't have a Socceroo career. Aimed squarely at Bosnich, Slater, Foster and maybe Kosmina. Hope (and expect) that he will continue on to the WC.

Re: The Road to Russia 2018

Had me in tears watching the TV. Remembering being in the stadium back in 2005 against Uruguay. Very emotional.

If his broken ribs aren't right then a crunching tackle could re-break them and possibly repuncture his lung?

Re: Preview: Central Coast v AUFC 16.11.17

As long as they don't rush Gulum back into the starting 11 prematurely for CCM and risk reinjuring him - just give him some minutes off the bench if he's ready. And don't give Baba a full 90 minutes against CCM either - just another 30 minutes off the bench, or 60 minutes from the start if he's read...

Re: Preview: Central Coast v AUFC 16.11.17

I still think we should pick our best available side for both games, but don't risk playing Baba or anyone coming back from injury, unless it's off the bench, just to get some minutes into their legs before the Cup game (eg Baba & Gulum).

Re: Preview: Central Coast v AUFC 16.11.17

With so far to go in the season, I'd rather go for the silverware while we have a chance. No one will remember if we finish 3rd, 4th, 5th or whatever. But to win the Cup ..... we'll remember that!

One game to win a trophy. 3/4 of the season to go. No relegation. I'd prioritise the trophy every time. 🙂

Re: Adelaide United v Newcastle Jets Match Day Jamboree!!!©

Wouldn't want to be in the trenches with Ghost. On the positive side, I thought we played a lot better in the first 35 minutes than we have been. Kitto made an impact. Some of our younger players (eg Konstandopoulos, Elsey, Warland) seem to be improving week to week with experience, even if still pr...

Re: Sack Kurz

6 of our starting 11 - everyone is forgetting Elrich. It's not just about age, it's also about inexperience. We've had to bring in a bunch of younger (if not young) players with much less experience than the players we've lost. There's no indication the players aren't playing for Kurz. A stupid indi...

Re: The Road to Russia 2018

Honduras are clearly the favourites. They're playing at home, they've just beaten Mexico, and we just scraped by against Syria.
World rankings say we're the favourites (69 v 43), but they mean little when it comes to intercontinental games.

Re: Preview: AUFC vs Newy 11-11-17

Blackwood has hit the post and had excellent shots blocked a number of times. I hope one goes in soon and that helps him kick on. Having said that, Diawarra is clearly streets ahead in ability and football brain at this point in time and would rightly be straight back in if fit.

Re: Preview: AUFC vs Newy 11-11-17

Blackwood has been working hard chasing down defenders, making runs wide to pull defenders out of position. He doesn't have Diawarra's skill, but I'd love to see him get the goal his hard work has deserved.

Re: HAL Season 2017/18 - Other Matches

Ned Zelic is an idiot. Laughs at Milligan' two footed studs up late challenge and calls it "common sense" not to show him a second yellow despite admitting it was a yellow card offence. MV just cement the fact they are a bunch of thugs.
