Re: Free ride for AFL, football getting screwed

The maths behind it all is a little more complicated than what is being portrayed as the sheer numbers of people AFL draws into the City on a weekly basis (and subsequent economic benefits) puts it in a better bargaining position. Cricket and the willingness to write off debt is another matter entir...

Re: WC & Asian Cup qualification shake-up

Not too sure on the need for an increase of sides in the Asian Cup. I guess its most likely to reduce the likelihood of big money nations like China and some from the middle east that are important to involve in tournaments but are a chance to stuff it up for themselves. I think that would be a par...

Well done, Stuckey. Just recognition for your sterling effort in herding the cats that constitute AUFC supporters.

Re: 2014 Asian Champions League

There were some cracking games over the last couple of days. The Victory - Guangzhou game was tasty as was the Yokohama - Jeonbuk game (which featured a freaky goal from Saito). The group is as tight as it gets; all 4 teams on 7 points going into the final match day. CCM were unlucky to lose to FC S...

Re: Come back Dario!

He came back from a bad virus with a very slow return. seems to be all guns blazing now for him. I read somewhere he is expecting to be in the first 11 once back to full fitness as a left mid , with much more defensive roles then he is used to . That was my understanding as well. It was meant to be...

Re: AFC President's Cup 2014

Considering the struggle the ACL gets for media attention I can't see this tournament getting much time on Fox sports news. Straneg thing is, Stuckey, that the ACL gets good airtime out here as many of the games are shown live on Fox Sports and Star Sports. This year they have even shown a few of t...

AFC President's Cup 2014

It is time for one of the more eclectic competitions in the official AFC calendar, the AFC President's Cup. For those unaware it is basically a competition for club champions from the bottom rung of the AFC. No Dordoi this year as the Kyrgyz competition has been elevated to AFC Cup status. Once agai...

I am happy with this and the entire long-term project approach. Hopefully we get to see a conveyor belt of local talent established. Now that would be something.
