Re: Who's signed for next season
It would make sense if anyone actually knew about the guy we're signing. As far as I can tell from trawling through Weibo and Google, no one does. Have a read through John Duerden's article on TWG as I think he expresses my thoughts better than myself. https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/what-adelaide-u...

Re: 2018/19 Round 2 vs Melbourne City
Elsey being managed for the cup final? Came in to the season knowing we were light on at the back, didn't take long to feel that. Wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Eye on the prize. And yeah, lack of defensive cover - but might mean we give one of the NPL lads a run, according to Bruce.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Bruce is only the mouthpiece of VDP, so no hard feelings towards him as it is clear that this directive to sign a Chinese player annually is definitely from higher up. There's no point in arguing for an increase in visa spots if we're wasting it like this. IIRC, Gertjan aired his grievance of being ...

Re: Who's signed for next season
I also want to give the bloke a chance, but it’s very hard to when we’re wasting a visa spot on him. There’s no other way to look at this situation. We have an abundance of attack minded midfield options already, and the forced signing of him has locked us out from looking elsewhere for a visa DM or...

Re: Who's signed for next season
As I had said earlier... Whichever way you look at it, a 3rd division Chinese league CB is a waste of a visa spot when we have a DM position crying out for attention. You want your visa players to be playing in the first XI week in week out - just who would be shifted to the bench to accommodate him...

Re: Who's signed for next season
The new signing is 20 year old “Offensive midfielder” called Yongbin Chen. Nothing football related comes up when you google him and he doesn't appear on Qingdao's first team page on their club website. Without his Chinese name I can’t even find the dude. Another Dexter Rosales waiting to happen!

Re: Who's signed for next season
That's a lot of "ifs" but with the reality of it right now, none of that will likely happen. I would love the owners to prove me wrong and sign someone who would be of the Isaias ilk, but chances are high that they aren't. Instead of campaigning for an extra visa spot, I think we should be looking a...

Re: Who's signed for next season
I don't like being restricted by having this Chinese player from our Chinese 3rd Division sister club taking up our final foreign spot. Especially when we could definitely do better elsewhere.

The Roar is opinion pieces mainly so don't take what you read on there too seriously. People wanting to make a quick name for themselves by writing shite.
