Re: James Troisi

Pros: threat going forward Cons: not a CDM, poor work rate, reported attitude issue, not much of a team player, has pushed Konst and other kids further down the line, If McGree gets pushed more defensively it's also a con as we lose McGree's forward threat. Agree. Plus he's a mercenary and will jum...

Re: Who's signed for next season

Not that happy with this signing. McGree is doing the job perfectly well. Who the heck is going to be doing our defending from midfield? I fear this could get messy when we play quality opposition. CCM, in preseason no less, walked through our midfield... Only saving grace is we have a January tran...

Re: Who's signed for next season

Good news. Verbeek had already signalled that his team would play attacking football. In the absence of quality Aussie defensive midfielders with the exception of Jedinak, this is a good signing. Anyway, we have Louis D'Arrigo developing nicely and Michael Marrone/ Michael Maria/Vince Lia to do the ...

Major Sponsor

I am puzzled and disappointed that United has not been able to secure a major sponsor for the A-League season. I would have thought that the connections Piet (And his investors!) has in the business world, that we would have secured a new front of shirt sponsor by now. With the A-League now on free ...

Re: CC Mariners v Adelaide United FFA Cup: Semi-final 2019/2020

I am sorry Old Gregg,, but I don't think Richards was ok. Apart from not being confident in the air, he spilled a straight forward shot, conceded a goal from a free kick that never should have hit the back of the net and definitely did not command his area. He isn't ready for this level yet. I do ac...

Re: CC Mariners v Adelaide United FFA Cup: Semi-final 2019/2020

I think that it was a pretty ordinary performance by our boys. Sloppy at times with our passing and very wasteful. So many good chances to score. I feel sorry for Isaac Richards having such a poor debut. However, why didn't Margush play? It is evident that we need to recruit a class defensive midfie...

Re: Who's signed for next season

OMG. I just heard some gossip that United have been working on a swap deal with Carlo Armiento going to the Central Coast and that ex-Red, Jacob Melling joins Adelaide. I pray that this is not true, Jacob Melling is definitely not the right man for the defensive midfield position. He is a pretty ord...

Re: Who's signed for next season

otto62, this was just a recommendation because of the talk that there are not many Aussie defensive midfielders available and not my first choice option. It is also because our last visa spot is going to a Chinese player. It is both in the club's interests as well as Mile's as he has not been able t...

Re: Who's signed for next season

I think that we should sign Mile Jedinak. I know that he will be Macarthur FC's player next season, but he is well into his thirties and needs to play until he can join MFC. Jedinak can fill the defensive midfield role for a season while United find that top class midfielder or Louis D'Arrigo steps ...

Re: FFA Cup Quarter Final: AUFC v Newcastle Jets

Although I was not totally impressed with the performance, it must be said that Moss pulled off three great saves to deny certain goals. The Reds were also wasteful and butchered three or four gilt edged chances. Who knows what the score could have been if we had taken those chances. Toure looks the...

Re: FFA Cup Round of 32: Melbourne Knights v AUFC

Although there were positive signs {Toure,McGree, Maria, an experienced and attack minded coach as well as a settled squad} out there, for me an area of concern is our midfield. We are all accustomed to seeing Isaias taking command and running the show from his deep lying position in the midfield. Ho...

Re: 2019/20 kit

Further to the comments that I made about the Adelaide United away strip, I just spotted two photos side by side on the Adelaide Now website. On the left is Jacobsen modelling the new white strip and right next to it on the right is a picture of a Barcelona player playing a friendly against Iniesta'...

Re: 2019/20 kit

I have always advocated that we actually utilise the club's three colours (Red, Blue and Yellow). Our all red strip should have subtle blue and yellow trimming) and definitely yellow numbers like we had in our original strip. For the away strip, you do not need to look any further than Barcelona's n...

Re: Police at victory games

Since the inception of the A-League, I have always sat in the western grandstand and parked my car near South Road. Last year, however, I was given a lift by a friend who always parks on the eastern side of the stadium ( For a United/Victory game!). As we walked out of the stadium towards my friend'...

Re: Who's signed for next season

Ed Dog, I honestly feel that we need a top class creative midfielder or Adlung, a centre back (Tongyik?) and a top class striker if we are to challenge for the Championship. We have two import spots and need to make the commitment to sign two good imports as we are not far off the top teams that are...
