Re: AFC Turmoil

It appears the proposed meeting on the 25th of May has been postponed until after the World Cup. The move by Saudi sports authority chief, Turki Al-Sheikh, appears to be losing momentum as the various SAFF members are becoming increasingly wary.

Re: 2018 AFC Champions League

So Kashima knocked out shanghai SIPG, and deservedly so. SIPG managed to get a non-penalty) however the resulting 2-1 win wasn't enough to overcome the first leg deficit. Jeonbuk easily accounted for Buriram and Suwon decimated Ulsan 3-0 with Jurman being active throughout the game (including an ass...

Re: RE: Re: 2018 World Cup

I hear that the Scottish league, in particular the lower table teams, are almost on par with HAL level (I don't watch it so I could be completely wrong but this is what I've heard). So perhaps McLaren's form is relative. Much of it is worse. I see it on the box occasionally in Myanmar, usually a Ce...

Re: AFC Turmoil

I have seen unconfirmed reports that the 10 federations involved have received show-cause notices from the AFC. The Indians seem to be hedging their bets as it seems the AIFF Exco was unaware and may not be so keen on the idea, not least as it will put them directly in conclict with the AFC and FIFA...

AFC Turmoil

It has been a busy 5 days in the AFC where the Saudi's are trying to form a new regional grouping, South West Asian Football Federation, that includes all the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) members bar Nepal & Bhutan and all of the West Asian Football Federation members that are aligned to i...

Re: 2018 J-League

It seems that Ange has managed to change the way F.Marinos play though their results will take a while to reflect the change in style. Needless to say there have been defensive issues as the team works out the new system. https://football-tribe.com/asia/2018/05/01/analysis-yokohama-f-marinos-tiki-ta...

Re: The Back-Blocks of Asia

Leeds ended up losing their first game 2-1 to the All-Stars side in front of 20,000 and then bounced back to beat the national side 2-0 in Mandalay. The games certainly were controversial back in the UK due to the Rohingya crisis. In other news an interesting scandal has arisen regarding an internat...

Re: Who's signed for next season

I feel a bit for OD. He really showed some grit in the previous season but found himself on the outer this season. I'd love to keep him but can understand if he decides to move in search of first team football.

Huddersfield.........

..........are staying up! They did it the hard way though, with away draws to Manchester Citfy and now Chelsea. It makes the upcoming home match to Arsenal appear a doddle. Hence we have Brighton & Huddersfield both staying up with Southampton also looking to remain in the EPL which is good given th...

Re: 2018 AFC Champions League

Kashima Antlers accounted for Shanghai SIPG 3-1. The away goal could prove valuable however Shaghai have all the work to do in the return leg.

Ulsan defeated Suwon 1-0 in the first leg.

Re: 2018 AFC Champions League

Tianjin & Guangzhou ended 0-0. a decent result fo Tianjin who need just a single goal to really turn the screws.

Buriram won 3-2 in a game of some questionable defending. The two away goals will be tough to overcome as Jeonbuk are quite the force at home.

Re: 2018 AFC Champions League

Round of 16 is underway, with Al-Jazira just getting over Persepolis 3-2, a handy 2 away goal benefit that will give Persepolis some cheer. Al-Sadd defeated Al-Ahli 2-1 which is notable for two reasons: (i) the Saudi side actually consented to play their game in Qatar and; (2) the referee was our ow...

Re: Who's signed for next season

Actually I am surprised and slightly miffed he has not been called up to the provisional Socceroo squad.

Me too a little given he is a true box-to-box midfielder and I thought would have been included as cover for both Mooy and Luongo should either pull up lame.

Time was about 7 years ago. Let's hope expansion results in a 33 game season as opposed to 22.

Re: Who's signed for next season

There is also the question as to who from the NPL is ready to step up. The team is going quite well at the moment.
