Re: Matildas

4-1 in the end, all 4 from Kerr. Not too shabby at all.

That leaves us second (Brazil beat Italy 1-0) and hence lining up against Norway on the 22nd.

Re: Matildas

A point gets us through to the next round, a win by 5 goals guarantees us second with first a possibility depending on the other match.

Bring it on, girls!

J1-League

There is a nice article on The World Game regarding Ange and Yokohama F Marinos. https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/why-ex-socceroos-coach-postecoglou-deserves-more-respect He certainly has brought some excitement to F. Marinos, who rather predictably have the highest goals scored whilst are shipping t...

Re: The Back-Blocks of Asia

In Afghanistan , former federation President and all-round sleaze, Keramuudin Karim, has received from FIFA a life ban from football and a fine of one million Swiss Francs for sexual misconduct and his overseeing of the shocking treatment of women footballers from 2013 to 2018. Apparently the author...

Re: Who's signed for next season

Smaller clubs can now plan a progression of younger players and save money for when they think they may hit a “ golden “ period” where a number of their homegrown players may force them over the cap. There are now 2 clear and viable ways to win the league, either buy it with big marquees or plan fo...

Re: Qatar 2022 Qualifiers - AFC

Some interesting bits coming out of the first round. The coach for Timor Leste explained that he couldn't use his first choice 25 players because once the season had finished all they did was eat, drink whiskey and beer and lie around, meaning none of them were fit enough to play. Hence the Japanese...

Malaysia pumped Timor Leste 7-1. I am still somewhat amazed that Malaysia are in the first round.

Re: Who's signed for next season

It seems the most likely, italians love having big squads and loaning players out all over just incase a player turns out half decent.
It feels like many players head into Serie B never to be heard of again. Quite different from the Championship or Bundesliga 2.

Re: 2019 SANPL

After a run of 4 defeats the slide has been arrested with a welcoming 1-1 draw away to Olympic. Not much respite though, as next week we face MetroStarts who are currently sitting pretty at 3rd on the table (we've slipped to 8th).

Re: Qatar 2022 Qualifiers - AFC

It looks like the Pakistan game will go ahead, but due to the confusion as to who is in charge, their home game against Cambodia will be played in Doha. The Cambodians will be thrilled with that. FIFA's fact finding mission met with the different Pakistani administrators on Tuesday and another meeti...

Re: Former Reds Watch

Another season gone and it will be interesting to see what Awer does. He had a good year in Portugal on loan and followed with a cracking year in Denmark, coming up with 6 goals and 11 assists in all competitions. Midtjylland will want to keep him, not least as they are playing in the Europa League,...

Re: New Coach

Kurz spotted in Melbourne over the weekend, I would hate to see him go to either City or Victory. He could well go to either, though he's probably a better fit for Victory than City. I think he'd suit the 'Nix, though they've gone with Ufuk Talay which will be interesting. I am keen to see what Ver...

Re: Who's signed for next season

We will only have two visa spots left to fill these positions if we waste a visa spot on a Chinese player which will probably will do.
Depends on the quality of the Chinese player. A Shengqing Qu wouldn't go astray!
