Re: RE: Re: Verbeek gone?

Vaert appointed interim coach until the end of the season. Best of luck Carl, you’re going to need it. Not sure I would want to lead a group of blokes who have just copped a massive pay cut, will be playing in empty stadiums and can’t even be sure what sort of league there will be to play in next s...

Re: Another great Guardian article on the REDS!

Not the Guardian but this was a great read, hearing from Verbeek and then none other than Pablo Sanchez about that fateful day in 2016: https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/football/a-league/teams/adelaide/fan-favourite-pablo-sanchez-reveals-the-secrets-behind-adelaide-uniteds-maiden-aleague-grand-f...

Re: Adelaide United v Western United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

I think it may be time for the coach to go.

There are teams with worse players in this league who don't lose by this much, at home no less.

Re: Adelaide United v Western United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

The defence is no different to last year other than Maria who seems to struggle at LB. The problem is our midfield are not defensive minded enough to press or block passing lanes. You can have the best back four in the world and if you have no midfield presence and have opposition attackers running ...

Re: WS Wanderers v Adelaide United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

We are gonna have to play much better than last week to pick up points.
Great to see Marrone back to RB but everyone else will need to lift.

Re: RE: Re: Preview : WS Wanderers - Adelaide United

Izzo Marrone Elsey Jakobsen Maria D’Arrigo Blackwood McGree Halloran Opseth Mileusnic Ochsenham, Smith, Kitto, Boland, M Toure, Yengi I wouldn’t be against starting Boland and playing Blackwood up front but I don’t think it’ll happen. I think this is what we will see pending any other late setbacks...

Re: 2020 AFC Champions League

Puts things in perspective when the best team in the A-League by a country mile (in terms of points) gets whalloped by the best J-League team from last season (who are in their preseason). As the years go on, the gap between our leagues is getting bigger and bigger and the achievements of us and WSW...

Re: Adelaide United v CC Mariners Match Day Jamboree!!!©

George is benefiting from some consistent game time. Banging in a couple will do wonders for the confidence as well. I think Opseth will benefit from the same consistency. I really enjoyed seeing him throw his hands to the heavens in celebration/relief when Georgie scored - he clearly wants the team...

I think we will see Halloran doing a lot of defensive work tonight.

Re: Brisbane Roar v Adelaide United Match Day Jamboree!!![emoji2398]

McGree was well marshalled tonight. Barely got on the ball and when he did they shut him down well. Brisbane play a very dull, defensive strategy akin to Popa's teams over the years which is dire to watch but I think will get them results long term. It's good play by Fowler and dare I say it he's tu...

Was Marrone injured in the charity match?

Who is the most threadbare squad this season? [emoji23]

We still have enough quality to get the job done but damn our bench will be thin.

Halloran is one of our most consistent performers. Quality player. Must retain him.

Re: Who's signed for next season

Konst has ruptured his ACL in training [emoji31]

Far out he was JUST breaking into the first team with some strong performances.

This late in the season it's probably all of next year gone too.

Wishing him well for recovery.

Re: Preview: Brisbane v AUFC : Sat 08/02

Troisi was 3 weeks away last week. I think we'll go in unchanged. Mauk on at 60 to ruffle some feathers. Look at the team who played Wednesday night in the charity match for indication of who won't be starting: Opseth, Marrone, Boland, Mauk. Interestingly a Mohamed Toure scored a brace in that match...

Re: FFA

Word is that Hyundai will not be sponsors next season.

This would be a massive blow for the league. We've had Caltex walk away from the Socceroos, ratings diving, attendances diving. Lots of work to do before the tv deal expires in 2023.

I am genuinely worried for the longevity of our league.
