Re: Who's signed for next season
50/50 on this. Elsey a good club man with experience in a position we needed. But last stint as already mentioned was often mixed. In some ways it feels like he was the last option ( we definitely were trying to get Popovic back but sfc offered more $$ apparently). Facebook comments are interesting...

Re: Who's signed for next season
Happy to see Jordan back. I feel he'll bring a level of calmness and physicality to the back line the club needs at this moment. As expected Vriends is still acclimatizing to Australian conditions so a good level of experience at AL level is probably the most important thing the club still needed to...

Re: Who's signed for next season
Yes I would presume that would just be for the loan period. If we are only paying 1/4 of his wage, it would only be for the first season as his Victory contract expires in 2025.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Hmmmm... not the most inspiring of signings. A guy that MV were so desperate to get rid of they are paying most of his wage. Putting that to one side though it doesn't look too bad. Good age, played O/S, turned out for the Socceroos in WC qualifier only 2 years ago. What you can't put to one side t...

Re: Who's signed for next season
Being cynical it seems Folami fell into our laps and is nearly free in season 1. Our current striking and defensive depth is borderline negligent especially based on our injury history. A smidgen of intent/ ambition being shown onfield would be a nice change, especially after the torrid time AU fan...

Effectively a cheap loan this year and then having him signed up for two more. From the few cup games, we’ve been pret...

Re: Adelaide United v WS Wanderers Australia Cup Match Day Jamboree!!!©
We looked a lot better this game. Midfield completely controlled the game first half. Lots of pleasing performances. It’s our Cup. Time we won it again! I agree. I really liked the look of the Barrnett - Aligach central pairing. AU looked very calm and controlled in the build up. Our entry into the...

Frustrating for Archie, I really want to see what he offers up front. Unsurprising Vriends has picked up a niggle.

Re: Who's signed for next season
But does he start over Bart and Pana ? He won't want to sit on the bench at his age. Yeah I guess you would presume Bart would be a starter. Although there is a very long history of senior Euro signings coming to the AL and taking some time to adjust to the conditions, if he's out that's a very you...

Re: Who's signed for next season
Yeah happy to see Elsey back in. He's still at a good age, the club needs more experience at the back and who doesn't love seeing a kid that grew up watching AU playing for them again.
Hopefully now the transfer windows are closing we should start to see the last few holes in the squad filled.

Sadly the AU NPL first team were knocked out by Modbury. But very promising to see the reserves side for AU with their championship!

Re: Australia World Cup 2026 Journey!
I'm not sure who was more naive, the ref or Socceroos. So lethargic moving forward providing Bahrain all the time in the world to get everyone behind the ball set, then we wait till they score to show some attacking prowess. I think this display has assured us that every other nation will come here...

Re: Reds to face WSW at ServiceFM Stadium in Australia Cup Quarter Final Showdown
I like that these games which would be unlikely to draw more than 5K to Hindmarsh go to smaller grounds. Last time I attended the AU v Adel City game there the vibe was good. Obviously there are constraints on where these games can go with things like tv broadcast. But I'd love to see all the NPL c...
