Re: Finals chances

Yep. Spoke too soon.
Even so, it would take a particular set of results for us to miss out, which would be pretty long odds.
However, we need to beat City to give ourselves any real chance.

Re: Finals chances

Excellent. If we beat City we're in the finals. If we lose or draw then Perth have no reason to have to beat Western United.

Re: Finals chances

What's the world coming to, that I'm hoping for a Melbourne Victory win today? (Although it's very nice that they are rubbish at the moment - except Rojas.)

Re: Adelaide United v Sydney Match Day Jamboree!!!©

I thought we played really well at the start and dominated. Defender had them under control and we looked dangerous going forward. The equaliser was IMO against the general run of play, and I think made our young team play more conservatively.

Re: Mauk and McGree

It’s a yes from me. You can never have too much quality. It does push Konsta out of the starting line up, but these two young players will only get better and better the more they play with each other. I thought they played really well together. Too often in the past when we’ve had the one big playm...

Re: New Foxtel Deal

IMO the only hope for a viable 2nd Div was to get an increased deal off Fox and quarantine some of that money. Post COVID-19 there'll be no increase, but if there's going to be a Div2 then the best chance is negotiate funding as part of the post-Fox shakeup. Of course, that would mean the PFA having...

New Foxtel Deal

The real issue here is the broadcast money which is likely to collapse before the monetisation of other forms of viewership, particualrly streaming, is better understood. The FFA can see it looming and don't have the answers; hopefully an independent A-League will. Thats a really good point. At som...

Re: Season’s finished?

.... call this season over and work on brighter futures elsewhere next season. The problem is that I don't see any brighter future. Where else will we get a broadcast deal of $20m a season? $10m a season? $5m a season? Run our own Netflix channel and ask for paying subscribers? I can already hear t...

Re: Season’s finished?

Negotiate open borders between WA & SA, and bring everyone to Adelaide & Perth.

Re: Season’s finished?

Surely that carnival idea would just trash the season so far? No team has more than 6 games left. Play twice a week (that's once every 3-4 days), starting mid-week. So 3 weeks and the regular season games are completed. 2 more weeks to complete finals. Qualifying finals mid-week, Semi finals on the ...

Re: Season’s finished?

I'd think that Coopers, Marden & Adelaide Oval could handle 2 games a week for say a 6 week stint.
Basing the A-League teams training at some of the local NPL grounds (not Marden), would put a little money in their pockets too.

Re: Season’s finished?

I wouldn't mind it spread around some of the better grounds in Sydney, but they need better cameras than some that I saw in the FFA Cup. It still needs to look professional, not NPL. Buyers market? Could we get a good deal for a 5 week stint from some of the bigger stadiums who at the moment have no...

Re: Staff & Player Retention

Sorry. Lost me. Give me an A-league with quality, like we've had since it's inception. Go your route and instead of crowds of 5k at a suburban ground there'll be 3k if that, there'll be clubs going broke, players not getting paid, and all the bad old days will be back. Sinking to the level of the lo...

Re: Staff & Player Retention

I feel a little vindicated here. Yes, there are concerns, but let's not panic too soon.
