Re: FFA Cup Round of 16: Lions FC vs Adelaide United

I'm happy with Kurz as long as he gets results. IMO we need to be top 4 this season, or it's a failure.

Re: Who's signed for next season

Brazil won't come and play a friendly against Adelaide though will they? I'm happy with the FFA marquee fund and the Fox money for marquees too. I just wish that Adelaide had the dollars to take advantage of it. Maybe once the new owners see how the system works they'll be better placed to make it w...

Re: Time is NOW for A-League to be run by independent board

I think that is a huge misrepresentation of what the aleague and Npl clubs are asking for. Im not sure how city, sfc abd victory could somehow funnel the aleagues money into their bank accounts, apart from being illegal.. Its hard to have a balanced discussion tbh If they get their way, the first t...

Re: Time is NOW for A-League to be run by independent board

In what way are those opposed to the FFAs iron fist serving personal interests? There is very little democracy in the current set up. Let's wait and see. Maybe I'm misjudging this and the owners of Melbourne City, Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC and WSW really don't want to funnel all the A-league mon...

Re: Time is NOW for A-League to be run by independent board

Personal interest wins out again.

We see it in politics and in all sorts of other places. The desire of people in leadership to forgo their own interests in order to serve the common good is probably at the lowest level I've ever seen in Western democratic countries.

Re: FFA

Football Federation Australia’s chairman, Steven Lowy, has sensationally announced he will not seek re-election, potentially ending his family’s more than 50-year association with football in Australia. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2018/aug/17/ffa-chairman-steven-lowy-quits B) A sad day for fo...

Re: FFA

The Fifa-backed panel tasked with fixing Australian football’s governance crisis has rejected concerns from Football Federation Australia’s board about their proposals. The congress review working group (CRWG) released a statement on Tuesday, defending the report they have submitted to Fifa and dis...

Re: Who's signed for next season

I don't see any problem with the young SA lads waiting, training, learning from better players. Even if we have 5 wingers, the opportunity will still come for our SA youngsters if they're patient. Most likely we'll have injuries and they'll get their chance. Some won't wait and we'll lose them inter...

Re: Who's signed for next season

Listen Kristijan, i don't know which of the players you're related to, but all they have to do is just work hard and fight for their place in the team. If Halloran is so bad they'll easily beat him to a spot in the team. If on the other hand he turns out to be another excellent signing then your fri...

Re: FFA

Sorry for any mis-statement. Yes, I believe FFA still need to maintain control over the A-league. However, I agree there needs to be a transition strategy. Maybe a 5 year plan? Small expansion of additional votes now, with a plan set in stone now to transition control in 2023.

Re: FFA

Imo comparisons to the NSL are so short sighted and one eyed. The NSL was semi professional! Players and staff had day jobs and someones cousin probably did the taxes as a favour on weekends. No doubt there was mismanagement and other issues. But this was semi pro for god sake. FFA have had the ben...

Re: FFA

If FIFA intervene and give the A-league clubs control (which they would use for their individual benefit rather than to benefit the A-league or the national teams or the grass roots), within 5 years I expect to see: problems with the national teams; problems with the PFA; problems with the broadcast...

Re: Who's signed for next season

I'm happy enough for Fox to pump money into the league. Higher ratings means more money next time the TV deal is negotiated, which means higher quality imports at all clubs, which means better football.

Re: Who's signed for next season

There was nothing stopping Adelaide from finding a $2.9m player and getting the $1.6m subsidy ..... except we don't have that kind of money. Potentially, if we found a $1m player we'd might manage to get a $500k subsidy ..... except we don't have that kind of money either.
