Re: WS Wanderers v Adelaide United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

It would be really wonderful to notch up a good, strong win; not just slipping through by one goal, but giving the Wallys a good, hard hammering. Our last really strong win was the FFA Cup final, which seems a long way ago now.

Re: Preview : WS Wanderers - Adelaide United

The Wallys are hot and cold. They will be switched on for 20 minutes, when we will have to sit back and defend everything that they throw at us and then they will stop playing as a team and we can take them apart. There were times in their second half last week when it looked like none of the Wallys...

Re: Adelaide United v CC Mariners Match Day Jamboree!!!©

Just when it looked like it was about to peter out into a dull 0 - all draw, along come McGree, Blackwood and the younger Toure to set the match alight. We barely deserved a draw before the 80th minute; we didn't deserve to lose after the 85th. I've been critical of Georgie Blackwood in the past and...

He was essentially forced on us by the mysterious Chinese backers behind the mysterious Dutch managers behind the evasive Australian front office staff.

Re: Adelaide United v Melbourne City Match Day Jamboree!!!©

It really feels like we are back in fourth gear again; not quite fifth gear, when we swept all before us in the FFA Cup, but fourth is better than second gear, which is where we were for all of December. Halloran gets better with every match and is close to being our best, most consistent player now...

Re: Preview Rd 17: AUFC vs the East Adelaide Second XI

Good question .... it's really hard to change a winning combination, but only a week ago I wrote that the Blackwood experiment had failed and it was time to move him on. Now I think I was too judgemental. Maybe start with Georgie and then sub on Toure at the 60 minute mark? It would give time for bo...

Preview Rd 17: AUFC vs the East Adelaide Second XI

I'm in that dangerous mood again of feeling quietly confident; normally when I feel that way, the team lets me (us) down. The East Adelaide 2nd XI don't have a settled backline this season; they can't even decide who is their #1 GK. I'm hoping that they swap back to Bouzanis, because he makes fundam...

Re: Western United v Adelaide United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

Really good effort from everyone last night. Elsey pulled a couple of clangers, but he has been out of the game for a long time, so some rustiness is to be expected; plus he saved a couple of clear tap in chances. Halloran had the best match he has ever played for us and MIleusnic was back to his me...

Re: Adelaide United v Melbourne Victory Match Day Jamboree!!!©

Victorian referees going easy on Victorian sides and harsh on us is just a fact of life in the A-League; we have 2 x GF appearances against the filth that showed how openly biased some of the eastern states referees are. We just have to overcome the inbuilt bias and play better because of it; it's n...

Re: Who's signed for next season

Vinnie Lia has just announced that he is leaving the club; my guess is that he is heading to Macarthur for next season. He was always a very solid squaddie and he will always be well remembered by us for smacking in two cracking goals against the filth, when we played them at Adelaide Oval; I think ...

Re: Adelaide United v Melbourne Victory Match Day Jamboree!!!©

What did everyone think of the officiating tonight? I was pretty happy with it, for the first time in a long while. There were a few things that could have gone either way but I thought it was pretty even. The handball was obviously incorrect and overturned quickly. Their penalty shout was correctl...

Re: Adelaide United v Melbourne Victory Match Day Jamboree!!!©

Really tough game to win and we did well to both hold on to the narrowest possible lead and to maintain a clean sheet - which must be our first in, what, 10 matches? Maybe someone can look that up. A truer result would have been 2 - 0 or 3 - 0 our way; the filth barely touched the ball in the first ...
