Re: Members forum June 2020

They made it pretty clear that there were some behavioural issues they do not want with the next coach, things like dressing down players at press conferences and other obvious things they weren't happy with.
That's good to hear, I didn't hate Verbeek but he lost me a bit when he did these things.

Re: Verbeek gone?

Interesting that Piet's in Adelaide. He's obviously here more than I originally thought.

Re: Verbeek gone?

Verbeek never really captured me. Did some good things but I couldn't see us improving under him. Will be interesting to see where we go from here. Getting an international coach is going to be tough in the current environment so I think the owner's hand might be forced anyway!

Re: Staff & Player Retention

It's tough because the level of 'professionalism' is also what has been causing clubs to struggle so much (including ours, at times), and in future if we sink into recession there's going to be a lot less money to go around. If we keep running the A-League as is and clubs like Mariners go to the wa...

Re: Staff & Player Retention

I have no issue with smaller venues but our top flight needs to be at a level of professionalism around what it currently is. I love the romance of grassroots clubs and I agree they need to have pathways to develop into top flight outfits but bringing the level down to meet them is the wrong way to ...

Re: Adelaide United v Newcastle Jets Match Day Jamboree!!!©

Verbeek copping a lot of fair criticism but I don't think Bruce and Piet should be overlooked. Not signing a defender since Reagan left is pathetic. Is Bruce up to it? The signing of Chen has had no positive outcome, what economic benefits has his signing achieved? I hate dumping coaches during the...

I don't know if I'll be that upset if our season ends after this match.

Re: Adelaide United - Newcsatle Jets - Preview 15.03.20

The government are banning gatherings of greater than 500 people...but not until Monday.

That doesn't make any sense, sorry for the players but I think I'll do the right thing and stay home. They've got my money for the ticket anyway.

Re: Adelaide United v Western United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

I’m happy with Verbeek. Looked like he tried to change formation today to strengthen the midfield, playing 4-4-2, but it gave no extra cover for D’Arrigo because it was a hot day and McGree, Troisi and Mauk looked like they were all told to play attack, attack, attack. Club can’t win - sign Kurtz a...

Re: Adelaide United v Western United Match Day Jamboree!!!©

Verbeek was brought in to use the youth, an area where Kurz had no interest. In that regard, he's been a success with the discovery and development of the Toure's and D'Arrigio. But he got outplayed today and in other past games. I like his pressers, we have won the FFA Cup and been pretty successf...

Re: Who's signed for next season

Halloran is definitely a key signing for us so great news. There's a lot of things to like about the squad but we're lacking in areas. Better foreign players would be a good start. I miss Stuckey's convenient list to see when all the players are coming off contract. Here you go: Expiring 2020 4. Ry...

Re: Who's signed for next season

Val reporting that CCM are about to unveil a former youth team player of ours.
His tweet has a gloves emoji so you'd assume it's a goal keeper.
