Re: HAL Season 2017/18 - Other Matches
So far 13 games in and not a single 0-0 draw. Had this argument at work when a mate....loose term..... Asked how many boring 0-0 results so far. Our league tends to average 3 goals a game. Shame the crowd numbers have been a little underwhelming so far.

VAR is making a boring game in Sydney even more boring. Time to fuck it off. It only seems to work in the favor of the FFA favorites anyway so may as well just stick with the regular biased referees.

Re: HAL Season 2017/18 - Other Matches
Surely the VAR is for overturning obvious errors. So the only question for the VAR should have been "Did the ball hit the hand." not "Was that handball a penalty offence." Questions of fact only please, not interpretation.
Was it offside in the passage of play leading to the goal - yes or no.
Did the ball actually hit the hand in the penalty area - yes or no.
Did the foul happen inside the penalty area not outside - yes or no.
Did the ball cross the goal line - yes or no.
Did the ball go out of play for a corner or goal kick before the goal was scored - yes or no.
Did the player actually have his leg kicked which led to the penalty - yes or no.
Did the player make contact with the other player (eg push in the back, tackle, etc) - yes or no.
Don't extend it to matters of interpretation - like was it "deliberate" handball or ball to hand, was the kick to the leg a penalty or was it a dive, was the hand in the back a penalty or was it a dive, was the tackle shoulder to shoulder or in the back.

Makes some sense especially as our referees have comprehensively proven there interpretation of the rules does not improve when watching dozens of replays.Surely the VAR is for overturning obvious errors. So the only question for the VAR should have been "Did the ball hit the hand." not "Was that handball a penalty offence." Questions of fact only please, not interpretation.

The second last one can be a matter of interpretation to some extent, people are still arguing whether Berisha should have received that grand final penalty because they cannot tell whether the leg was kicked or not from the video.

I thought it was only there to overturn obvious referee errors? If the ref calls a pen and the ball hit the hand then there is no obvious error. No matter how soft it may have been.Surely the VAR is for overturning obvious errors. Re: HAL Season 2017/18 - Other Matches
It's shocking that for all the FIFA implementation, making a ref run over to the sideline and watch a TV to get info was what they came up with. FIFA have basically ignored every other sport that's year ahead of them in this sort of thing.
Cricket is a perfect example. When a decision is reviewed the 3rd umpire makes the decision then informs the on field umpire to keep or change their decision. The decision is basically taken out of the on-field umpires hands so someone with far more accurate information can make a far more educated decision.
Why does the ref even need to see vision on it? They have the extra ref on hand who is in the position to make the best decision. They can make the call just like a linesman would the ref doesn't need to see vision of every debatable time the ball goes out for a throw-in.
This is supposed to help refs but instead due to such idiotic implementation it's placing more pressure on them.

I don't get it as well but it happens in Italy as well, I saw an example earlier in the week. There should not even be a screen by the pitch. It goes to the VAR and gets decided quickly, one or two replays and if that is not enough it is not an obvious error and the decision stands. It's shocking that for all the FIFA implementation, making a ref run over to the sideline and watch a TV to get info was what they came up with. Ned Zelic is an idiot. Laughs at Milligan' two footed studs up late challenge and calls it "common sense" not to show him a second yellow despite admitting it was a yellow card offence. MV just cement the fact they are a bunch of thugs.

CCM down Sydney 2-0
Happy to see them lose, especially to CCM. Now we just need city and newcastle to lose to bring all their fans back to reality.

CCM all over them as well. One of the most enjoyable HAL games I've watched in a while from a neutral perspective.

Must beat Newy today. Will only be 2 wins out of top 2 if we do.
