Australia v Ecuador

Great to see Goody & Joe get a call-up, along with Nestory afforded the chance to train-on.

Alexander Robertson is an interesting one; never heard of him. Apparently he is playing with the Man City u21's and had a run with their first team a couple of years ago in the EFL Cup. He was good enough for an England underage call-up, so obviously there is some talent there. He appears to have suffered a bit from injury; not sure if that has held him back.

Anyway, he's in the squad and if afforded a chance to play we'll get to see what he's about. Hopefully he grasps the chance with both hands.

McGree's out of the squad due to illness. Irankunda replaces him - if he gets a run, he'll be the youngest Socceroo ever.

Is Behich - Goodwin a better proposition than Kitto - Goodwin down the Left?
No disrespect to Behich but I think so.

Goodwin & Kitto train and play together every week … and Behich is surely at the end of international career … but for the Socceroos I’d probably still pick Behich.

Good result.

Goodwin is class, we're so lucky to have him at the club.

It was an exciting game, though it took us a while to find our groove.

Agree re: Goody, he was class from the first whistle.

3-1 flattered us really (2 goals likely offside) but I enjoyed the game.
How good was it to NOT have VAR and just go on the refs calls as they came? He put his whistle and cards away most of the time and just let the game run. Much better than the over officiated games we have been getting.

5 South Australians in the starting 11 (Deng, Borello, Gauci, Goodwin & McGree).

What a debut from Gauci!

1-0 at half-time (one South Aussie with the goal, another with the assist - if bouncing off the up-right is an assist)

Excellent half from Big Joe!
South Australia shows once again that Oz has more than one Football heartland.
Super!

I am not going to get the see all of the second half live; will have to pop over to the live feed for the Japan-Colombia game and then watch the remainder of the Aus-Ecu second half on delay. Thankfully out here (Japan) the game is on Youtube.

Getting battered(ish) again and yet winning …. again.
(Adelaide … Socceroos …)
Lucky …. or do we just know what we’re good at and do it?
High risk/high reward in midfield, trust a scrambling defence to hold out, create decent opportunities when we get the chance, and be clinical in front of goal.

Poor penalty conceded by Deng.
No chance for Gauci.

Deng had a night to forget; out-muscled, out-paced and out-positioned throughout.
