Agreed. Even with the "Golden Generation" we lacked a player with guile. It was something that brought us unstuck in Thailand in 2007 when the likes of Iraq just sat deep and hit us on the counter, and boy did they hit us. Robbie Kruse manages it a bit coming in from our wide, and draws a plethora of fouls as a result, however we need someone more central.I can think of nothing more that the NT has required in the last few years then someone like Rogic who can attack defence lines and can add a different dimension to the team's attack.

IMO we've never really replaced Harry Kewell. Although as far as Australian football goes that is kind of like expecting the Aust Cricket team to replace Shane Warne.Agreed. IMO Rogic for a number of reasons is one of the countries most important players.
His versitility, scoring record and unique playing style are important. But that he's come froma futsal background is key as well. If he becomes a mainstay in the NT I think this will be a huge boost to futsal and highlight that more resources need to be offered to them. As well as highlighting that there are many ways to skin a cat and focusing on future Socceroos coming from one or two areas is silly.

Re: OS Aussies talk
I see that the UEFA site is waxing lyrical about Ryan's save against Monaco this morning http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague ... index.html
"if there's a better save all season than from debutant Mathew Ryan who finger-tipped the shot onto his far post then you'd pay good money to see it"
On another note it appears that Fox no longer have La Liga (or EPL) coming into Philippines, but have Bundesliga. This Sunday evening I can sit at home with a cold beer in hand and watch Leckie as Ingolstadt take on Dortmund. Looking forward to it.

Re: OS Aussies talk
I watched the Celtic - Dundee United game on the weekend (Rogic v McGowan, couldn't miss it) and was very impressed with the way Rogic played. He was in a less familiar role, sitting deep and transitioning play as a real controlling midfielder and performed very well. His defensive work wasn't bad either.
McGowan missed a great opportunity for goal early on and didn't have a bad game but Dundee United were under the pump for much of the match.

http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/so ... fe00f79b80IT may be one of the most spectacular heists in Australian football history, but Greek-born Apostolos Giannou is far from the first man to be stuck in an international tug-of-war involving Australia.
Wow I thought he was gone! It would be great to see him in green and gold!
Yet another Australian to China!

http://www.foxsports.com.au/football/so ... 32b2e4b965IF the Socceroos are looking for an in-form option in the attacking third, then 24-year-old Bradden Inman is starting to spark attention for his exploits in England’s League One.
Nice to hear he's getting back to form. There was talk of him coming back to Australia a little while ago. Obviously that's no longer needed!

Re: OS Aussies talk
Surely if you're getting a start at EPL level you warrant a call up to the Socceroos squad?
Congrats Jordan.

Was nice. Pity about the redNice to see Smith getting a start for Liverpool.
Re: OS Aussies talk
Apparently Mauk had an average start in his NEC debut. Dragged at half time and the team looked better after the break.

He did ok coming off the bench last week as well (was on the pine due to shin splints apparently).Goodwin scored around the hour mark on his starting debut.
Mooy seems to be pivotal to Huddersfield's fine start to the season.
Amini is another that seems to be coming out of the blocks firing.

Re: OS Aussies talk
brad jones is probably a prime example of regular first 11 football in half decent leagues vs 3rd choice at a big club.
Current sitting top of the eredivisie after takig a few risky clubs in smaller leagues looking for minutes.
Well done to him!
