Re: The Road to Russia 2018
Pretty happy with that performance. Mooy was immense.
Where was this ball movement in Jordan?!
Meredith looks excellent as well.
Should have been 6-0.
If results go our way during the week we might be thru. We'll need Kyrgyzstan to lose during the week to Jordan at home.
If that does happen it would be wonderful to see Ange experiment a little in the final home games with Jordan and Tajikistan and give a few players of the future a run.

2nd place doesn't guarantee going through to the next round (only the best 50% of 2nd place getters go through), so I dare say we will be going at it hammer and tong until we play Jordan to see who will top the group.Pretty happy with that performance. Mooy was immense.

It's third place that has half a chance of going through.

No its definitely the eight group winners and best four runners up that progress to round three of qualifying.
The top two in each group in round three qualify for the WC, the two third place teams then play off with the winner to pay off against the fifth placed CONCACAF team.

Are true, yes I think we'll not be taking the foot off the gas any time soon! 2nd place doesn't assure progression.

Hence Kyrgyzstan would be doing us a favour by taking points off Jordan in Bishkek, something that could well happen. Are true, yes I think we'll not be taking the foot off the gas any time soon! 2nd place doesn't assure progression.
Re: The Road to Russia 2018
So AO gets the Joran or Tajikistan game.
Can't imagine FFA giving away such a crucial qualifier in Jordan to AO so I'm expecting Tajikistan will be the opponents.
Can't imagine that would pull a big crowd.

Val mentioned that the game will be before the Port game so that would mean its the 24th being Tajikistan. So AO gets the Joran or Tajikistan game.

Yeah this is a bit of a let down. There was talk the AO game would be a "big" qualifier. Still this is Adelaide's chance to prove we deserve more games.
Perth and Canberra both got 19k. I'd hope to see close to 30k to press a case for future games.
Time to Djbate!
Re: The Road to Russia 2018
It will still draw a crowd but we would have probably already qualified by then and this will be a chance to test the youngsters.

I'm ok with Tajikistan and it being at the Adelaide Oval but I just hope that the Jordan game is at an even bigger venue otherwise it makes no sense at all.

You're right the game needs to be played in Melbourne!I'm ok with Tajikistan and it being at the Adelaide Oval but I just hope that the Jordan game is at an even bigger venue otherwise it makes no sense at all.

As long as it's at etihad or mcg then I have no issue. AAMI park on the other hand...You're right the game needs to be played in Melbourne!I'm ok with Tajikistan and it being at the Adelaide Oval but I just hope that the Jordan game is at an even bigger venue otherwise it makes no sense at all.

Yeah obviously Etihad would be great but I can't really see a huge amount more then AAMI holds showing up so AAMI would be best if it was in Melbourne. As long as it's at etihad or mcg then I have no issue. Consider Perth, Canberra and now Adelaide are getting a game where else would people rather the game be played?

I'm just highlighting how silly it is to hold Tajikistan in a 50K seater stadium and then Jordan in a 30K seater.Yeah obviously Etihad would be great but I can't really see a huge amount more then AAMI holds showing up so AAMI would be best if it was in Melbourne. As long as it's at etihad or mcg then I have no issue. I think Newcastle could host another game but that's about it.

Re: The Road to Russia 2018
I seriously wonder how much it comes down to not playing on a ground that has AFL markings all over it? If Adelaide got the Jordan game an AFL game would have been played on AO.
I agree about North NSW. Newcastle could do with another game, although they did get Asian Cup games including the Socceroos semi final.
What about Gosford? Its a good stadium for football and would be excellent advertising for CCM. Considering they've got more memberships than Brisbane and Perth I think that part of the world needs acknowledging.
