Re: Living/working abroad
I dont think i put my question across very well.
In dubai they seem to accept usd as almost a second currency. I know when converting from aud there will always be fee's
But since my master card does not have a UAE cash pot on it i was hoping that having a USD cash pot would save me from paying the extra 5.95% mastercard fee for using the wrong currency in the wrong country.
This fee is ontop of any conversion fees.
It seems even mastercard staff are running away from the question . But i figure ill just withdraw all my cash in europe and convert it over there into dirham or USD and acoid the added 5.95%
Thanks all the same guys

Re: Living/working abroad
One other thing I did was just before I left I openned a NAB account which for $10 a month allowed me unlimited ATM withdrawals internationally and if you put more then I think it was $1,000 a month into in they waved the $10 per month fee.
Maybe take a look to see if NAB or anyother banks offer a similar deal?

I did the same thing with an ING DEBIT account - then you do a credit withdrawal via an ATM o/s (which is not actually credit, its debit) and you'll still get a conversion fee but you won't get stung like you do via those exchange companies. One other thing I did was just before I left I openned a NAB account which for $10 a month allowed me unlimited ATM withdrawals internationally and if you put more then I think it was $1,000 a month into in they waved the $10 per month fee.

Unfortunately not.What, no Phnom Penh?
In fact, KL & Jakarta are looking a slim chance at the moment also. Bangkok will have to do.

Re: Living/working abroad
I have to share a amaziing experience i had at the alatanta roma match on the weekend.
Arrived in bergamo on the train it was snowing and we were not sure the game would go ahead.
We were then told only members and those who brought tickets presale would get in due to safety comcerns and not having to maintain the whole stadium ( ice snow etc ).
Was not looking good !
We spoke to the atalanta ultras, told them we r from australia and troisis home town. Ten minutes later they pulled some strings and we had tickets in hand plus coffees they gave us.
They pushed us to the front of the merch stand when we asked for scarved and made sure we got a good price.
Sitting with the ultras during the match while the snow was so thick the otherside of the pitch was near invisible was an amazing experience.
On the bus back to the station bumped into a kiwi, another ausie family were behind and heard the accents, we all got chatting about troisi.
Then the subject of the new aussie kid the was signed in the youth team came up. Saying how he has been promoted to senior second team"..........only to find out they were actually his parents and he was actually stadinding next to us.
Very humble kid! Amazing day of hospitality!
Chris Ikonomidis is his name. Plays as a 10. According to his dad has had very little contact from okon.

Amazing! From all reports the kid is talent. You may have just chatted to the next Harry Kewell!
Football in the snow what an experience! I hope you rugged up!
Did Troisi play?
Disappointing to hear about the family not hearing from FFA. Why would they though? He's only regarded as one of Australia's hottest talents playing with a Serie A club!

Super experience Shin.
SBS interview with the lad.

"trequartistas"
Looking good.
It would be nice have a world class "10" playing for Australia.
But alas I fear the "Oz game" values grit and endeavor over guile and artistry.
Time will tell.

Re: Living/working abroad
Well we've seen The Milan derby, El Classico and The champions league clash of Real V Man Utd in the last few weeks, but few games compare to the glitz and glamour of the game I'm going to today!
Brentford V Scunthorpe! Don't hate me!
Haha I've been wanting to see a lower league match since I've been here it will be a interesting experience!

As cold as the beer! Haha nah I had a sausage roll. My missus had a Bovril. I didn't realise it was a drink I just thought it was a brand of stock. So she warmed up with a steaming cup of gravy!^

Bovril.
I bet you can't get it at a Premier League game.
