In April I may well be in Kyushu, so can catch a short flight or the ferry to Korea. Then again there is also a chance I will be in either of Philippines/Myanmar/Mongolia/Solomon IslandsYour in korea atm ?So we have Jeonbuk, who took out this year's ACL and Jiangsu who have Sainsbury at the centre of their defense. We will not know who else joins the group until the end of January.
April is the away game for Jeonbuk which I may have a chance to attend

Kim Hyung-Il has been picked up by Guangzhou Evergrande which will leave Jeonbuk somewhat less experienced in the centre of defence.

Leonardo has been pinched from Jeonbuk by Al Jazira. That news will no doubt be received well by McGowan & Regan.....at least until his replacement is announced.

Are jeonbuk confirmed to be playing?
I thought i read somewhere that they were found guilty of match fixing and as a result are banned from contnental competitions.

The AFC's new body for looking into these things was unveiled just before Christmas, I have no idea if they are able to meet before the ACL kicks off, though if they do Jeonbuk may be in some trouble.Are jeonbuk confirmed to be playing?

Phnom Penh Crown were thrown out of the AFC Cup for something similar however had it overturned in Switzerland, which was fair enough as they were the ones who uncovered the problem, dealt with the offenders and reported the incident to the AFC.

Jeonbuk may indeed be in strife as it comes into effect as of the 2017 competitions.

And now Lee Ho has left Jeonbuk for Muangthong. That will leave Jeonbuk's central defenders short on experience unless they have someone lined up.

Re: 2017 Asian Champions League
It is getting complicated as Ulsan are starting to hint they'll be in a Jeonbuk's expense however the AFC's new body meant to deal with these issues doesn't appear to have done much, and soon they will be out of time. Hence we still are not sure if:
(a) We play Jeonbuk, last year's ACL champs;
(b) We play Jeju who move into the automatic spot occupied by Jeonbuk and Ulsan take Jeju's play-off spot in another group;
(c) We play Ulsan who move into the ACL with a straight swap for Jeonbuk;
(d) No other Korean side comes in, Gamba get automatic entry and the last berth is between Bangkok United/Johor Darul Ta'zim; or
(e) Some other combination that seems to make sense to the AFC Competitions Commission.
My gut feel is that the loss of face of the new body being compromised from day 1 will trump the loss of face of having last year's champions disqualified due to the match fixing of an affiliated scout in 2013. However that is but a gut feel.

According to this recent article http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/news/20 ... 00315.html Jeonbuk have to submit an explanation to the AFC's Entry Control Body on Tuesday and it is rumoured that Adelaide United requested they be denied entry to the competition.
Also according to the article option (b) would come into effect if Jeonbuk are banned from the 2017 ACL.

......and Jeonbuk are out of the 2017 ACL. We will now be facing Jeju, which is a somewhat less daunting proposition. Jeju would have been preparing to face us, though, as most of the K-League seems to have anticipated this result.

Re: 2017 Asian Champions League
Brisbane spanked Global last night, 6-0, no real surprises there.
In our group Bangkok United and Johor Darul Ta'zim went to penalties with the Malaysians coming out on top. It's hard to see them getting past Gamba Osaka next week.
