La rocca is now aussie, we have an extra visa spot. We have a full roster though dont we?

I think AU have 22 players signed. If we don't count Elsey as he's being replaced.
I'm pretty sure he will still count as a foreigner for the ACL. But does that means he counts as a local in HAL now?

#1 - Galekovic - 06.2017
#2 - Marrone - 06.2017
#3 - La Rocca - 06.2017
#4 - McGowan - 06.2017
#5 - Regan - 06.2017 (Injury replacement)
#7 - Henrique - 06.2017 (Option of 2nd year)
#8 - Isaias Sanchez - 06.2017
#9 - Guardiola - 06.2017 (Loan)
#10 - Carrusca - 06.2017
#11 - Sergio Cirio - 06.2017
#12 - Ochieng - 06.2017
#13 - Marino - 06.2017 (Youth Scholarship)
#14 - Mells - 06.2017 (Youth Scholarship)
#16 - Makarounas - 06.2017
#15 - Warland - 06.2017 (Youth Scholarship)
#17 - Mileusnic - 06.2017 (Option of 2nd year)

So according to that we have 24 players signed for the 16/17 season with 1 player being replaced through injury and 1 extra mature age rookie. Meaning the clubs roster has 23 players that count towards their roster allocation.
7 players signed for the 17/18 season.

Sorry AU has 23 players signed. Although the Youth Scholarships and Mature age rookie doesn't count towards the count I'm pretty sure.

Sounds like he's count as a local in terms of HAL immediately.

Wonderful news.

I'm fairly certain this is now the current state of the AU squad.

Schweinsteiger is looking for a club...
Chicago Fire are the only MLS club interested and their season is finishing/finished.

Would the FFA do a Timmy with Basti?

Get him in as a guest player, maybe?
Adelaide United give him a call!
Schweinsteiger saying no thank you would be the worse that could happen and the press/media of the audacious offer would be worth it alone.

Go on, if your not in it you can't win it.

B)
Love to see Basti here. A long shot, but imagine what a player like Mells could learn playing and training alongside him

Stevie G has left LA Galaxy. I wonder if Griff's offer is still valid. 8)

With that visa spot now open, Asian leagues in their off season with players coming off contact and champions league on the horizon, there's never been a better opportunity to pick up a quality Asian player.

What does the team need?
Not a goalkeeper obviously, Galekovic, Hall and Margush is enough.
The best back 4 is probably Marrone - McGowan - La Rocca - Elrich is very good for the A-league but the back up, apart from Garuccio, with Elsey injured, is weak.
It is similar in the midfield. The best trio is ISaias, Holland and Carrusca but with the back up being only the disappointing Makarounas plus young players Mells, McGree and O'Doherty another experienced player could be useful. With the ACL coming up the starting trio cannot start every game even if they are not injured.
Up front we have plenty of winger options so I do not think another one is needed, even Danny Choi. Guardiola is looking good at striker and given more game time should only get better. Marino seems to be on the outer but using a visa spot for a second striker seems to be a waste.

So I feel an experienced midfielder is the most pressing concern although it would be unfortunate that it might limit the game time of Mells and McGree. However going into the ACL as champions is very important and something that might not happen again in the near future so strengthening the team for a good showing is more important that player development.

I'd hope that if the club signs another visa player. They take more than this season into consideration.
Carrusca appears to be calling it quits (if not his use is diminishing) so a top line number 10 could be an option.
It's unlikely Guardiola will be here next season so a striker is another probable requirement.
A lot is up in the air for the club though. All visa players are off contract this season though. So the club may need to replace Isaias or Cirio as well.

They need to replace the Mauk/Jeggo role. Currently the best set up in that area seems to be Isaias moving into it and Holland taking his defensive role. I don't know if that's ideal though.

Stevie G. He's a poor man's Jimmy J but he'd do at a pinch.

Holland has shown he's got quality, I think this injury has just slowed him working his way into the side. But I can't see the club seeking out another first choice CM when those two are in the side.
