Also Carl said today that it’s “highly likely” that Hiroshi will stay.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Contract expiring in 2024: Lopez, VDS, Ansell, Warland, Barr, Isaias, Ayoubi, Halloran, HiroshiDoes anyone have a list of who's off contract at the end of the season ?
Plus how many more years we have to put up with the rest of them
Contract expiring in 2025: Cox, Kitto, Cavallo, Barnett, Tunnicliffe, Alagich, Toure
Contract expiring in 2026: Madanha, Yull, Duzel, Clough, Dukuly, Jovanovic
Contract expiring in 2027: Delianov, Talladira, Mauk
The club never announced how long Kikianis and O’Neil are contracted for.
I guess the most immediate question is which, if any, of those defenders coming off contract do they try and hang on to. I thought Ansell was pretty solid towards the end of the season. Warland struggled but I have a feeling he may have been carrying an injury. Barr must be as good as gone.
I would definitely try and keep VDS. Have Javi's legs got another year left in them though ?
But having said all that the defence was a shambles for most of the season
Re: Who's signed for next season
Reports are VDS and warland are gone and Barr has fallen out of favour. Could be Isa and Javi bank there next season.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Biggest problem was that most of the season we couldn’t play the same centre back pairing two weeks in a row - mostly because of injury or because of poor form when coming back from injury, and then because we lost Popa. I think we must have had 8-10 different centre back pairings this season. If we’d had Popa and Ansell consistently at the back all season I think we’d have been alright.

What was so bad about Barr that he was dropped like he was?
He was no Baresi but surely he was worth more minutes.
I must have missed something again.

I like your optimism but I don't think that was it in isolation.Biggest problem was that most of the season we couldn’t play the same centre back pairing two weeks in a row - mostly because of injury or because of poor form when coming back from injury, and then because we lost Popa. Insufficient midfield cover (Isa is not what he once was) and Carl's insistence that wingbacks play so far up the pitch means we conceded so many high quality chances to opposition.
It's the way he plays, but there has to be a balance imo.

Re: Who's signed for next season
I agree Ed!
Also, I think it's not (just) that Isa is slowing down a touch, it's that the DM role has changed a bit for us. Under Amor / Gombau (yes yes I know that was 8 years ago), we played that Barca style that when the wingbacks pushed up Isaias would drop back between the CBs to create a back 3.
Also, yeah, Popa was a huge loss. I reckon Kikianis can become the same sort of player. I would not be averse to keeping Javi Lopez another season primarily as a CB, too

All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Re: Who's signed for next season
I really hope not. The club would be stupid to let VDS go and give Javi another year which means they’ll probably do it.Reports are VDS and warland are gone and Barr has fallen out of favour. Could be Isa and Javi bank there next season.

Re: Who's signed for next season
The club have announced 3 defenders leaving on the official site - Ansell, Barr and Van Der Saag.
We're having a real clear out by the looks of things.

VDS, Barr and Ansell released.
Would have liked to have kept VDS with Bova going.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Looks like we'll be playing some really attacking football next year!
Wait, we don't have attackers either.....
Looks like we'll have a great midfield scrum next year. And a goalkeeper.
Stay calm. Nothing to see here.

Warland gone too.
This seems too ambitious for Adelaide to make this many changes to the first team...
