I was told that it was a "done deal" and that there is agreement overall. Just a few loose ends to be tied up. I was given the impression that this should be announced this week. I hope that it can be announced tomorrow.
What exactly is the "done deal" ?

This sounds like a red herring.

If the club's being sold then I guess it depends on who its being sold to.
I don't like that we don't know who the owners are and how they make their money but there's been many positives:
  • No Drama with every stupid thing being played out in the media
  • A commitment to SA players in the squad, more to be done here at junior levels but I have faith it'll happen
  • The club in general seems to be run properly
Are they perfect? No, but they could be worse.

Seven Goals, I am not deliberately misleading everyone with what I wrote. I genuinely thought that general agreement had been reached and that only a few "loose ends" needed to be resolved. I really thought that the media release was imminent. I hope that the deal still goes through as it should please the fans.

Seems to be a lot less peaks troughs with current owners.
I too would be a lot happier if we heard more able who the owners are, and I'd also love to know what outcomes they hope to achieve with our relationship with their Chinese club.

Anything come from this?

Val tweeted the other day that an A-Leagues club is negotiating a sale. When you take into account what’s been said here as well as on a couple do other forums, it surely has to be us.

It is me again with an update.. There are now TWO consortiums negotiating to buy the club. This has delayed the sale of the club as well as the haggling over the final sale price. The initial negotiations that I previously hinted at were for one consortium (Prominent interstate property developer!) to buy 85% of the club. I reported this to the forum after being told that it was virtually a done deal, but it seems that the final sale price was not quite agreed. Now there is a another party entering negotiations and they too, are haggling over the sale price. I believe that the club will be sold to one of the two parties.

Not sure how I feel about an interstate owner given how our mantra for the last few years has been to focus on SA talent.

If they have deeper pockets then great but it needs to be the right fit for our club.

As long as we actually know who they are and these new owners don't sign us up to any sponsorship deals with betting companies and let us keep working on our South Australian Athletic Bilbao project then I'm happy.

Rumours are the other party is from Europe, not that this narrows it down much.

I wonder if the interstate developer is Ross Pelligra. Recently bought the Adelaide Giants baseball team from the Adelaide crows and looking to build a $40m private stadium for them to play in. Bought the old Holden site at Elizabeth. Major investor in South Melbourne football club...
