There goes any chance of us winning the title now...
Re: Slory's urgent meeting with Rini?!
maybe quite the reverseThere goes any chance of us winning the title now...
Slory caused problems last year when he got some senior players noses out of joint with what he was earning and maybe he was still at a difference with some of the squad.
Like I said before ....No loss
We can gain from the extra foreign player spot and the money not spent on his wages.
Re: Slory's urgent meeting with Rini?!
At the end of the day, for whatever reasons, he simply did not deliver. We can blame Rini, the team, his injuries or his temperament but it doesn't change the fact that he didn't live up to his hype. Showing promise doesn't win games and that's the bottom line. No ifs, no buts.
Still, it's an unfortunate situation for the club and the player. Can't help but remember the interview after the trial game against MV where he scored a great goal. Saying how the feeling was great at the club and how "everyone's family" and all this great stuff. I wonder if he simply didn't mean it or if it's just all changed in the space of a few months. That's football.
Anyways, it's all history now and the club can look forward to signing another player in the January transfer window and allow some fringe players to step up in the meantime and make a name for themselves.
All the best for Slory and his business venture.

Re: Slory's urgent meeting with Rini?!
All the best to him in all honesty.
He could have eeked out the season and taken the clubs money but decided to end it now, admirable.
I prefer not to judge him as we will never know the full story of andwele slory, sure its been downhill for him since he left holland but if adam hughes has taught adelaide fans anything , it that you just dont know what a player is dealing with off the park.
He was worth the risk of signing unfortunetly didnt work, brisbane took the same risk on a certain player named thomas broich...... So i hooe it not the last time we make signings like this.
For now we can sign a guest player and there now around 300k in the cap for a rostererd player..... Estrada?

This thread makes me so much more a fan of this forum then ever. Sure its a rip off for AUFC that he's gone but there sure are loads of positives for this, but good on you everyone for not harping on like he personally emptied your own bank account.

Re: Slory's urgent meeting with Rini?!
Good luck to him, obviously he's got a lot of personal stuff to deal with - I feel for the guy and it's disgraceful that he was made the scapegoat for the Brisbane game (and unfortunate that he became such a target for supporters).
However, it was clear right from the outset that he wasn't fitting in at United - whether that's the fault of Rini, his teammates, his own attitude, or whatever, it just wasn't working out and IMO it's the best thing for the club that he's decided to walk.
PS the Hughes scenario is a completely different kettle of fish. Hughes always, always put the effort in and went about his business humbly - it's just that in the first season it just looked like he was way out of his depth standard-wise. He turned that around in the face of criticism. With Slory, it's clear that he's got the quality but his heart's not in it. Can't blame the guy, I have never been a fan of him in a red shirt but the fact that he's quit professional football altogether at the age of 29 shows that psychologically it just wasn't working.
Hope it all goes well for him back in Holland, and for United I have the feeling that this is a blessing in disguise.

All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Hughes' daughter was very, very ill the first year he was at AUFC and he ackowledged that it played very heavily on his performances.
I hope for the best for Slory, looking at his performances he always tried very hard for us - just the endevour didn't quite pay off.

Re: Slory's urgent meeting with Rini?!
I have to agree with a few of the above posts, he made some awesome diagonal runs that weren't spotter or played too late and I think that a player like slory really needs a good playmaker feeding him these sorts of balls, Caravella definetely isn't it, vidosic made some great runs last week that were completely ignored by Caravella as he opted to fire them long for Ramsay to chase, you could see vidosic wasn't happy. Maybe a Hernandez or Flores would have helped slory's game but now we will never know.

Couldnt agree more, our midfield does nothing for our strikers and does nothing for our defenders.I have to agree with a few of the above posts, he made some awesome diagonal runs that weren't spotter or played too late and I think that a player like slory really needs a good playmaker feeding him these sorts of balls, Caravella definetely isn't it, vidosic made some great runs last week that were completely ignored by Caravella as he opted to fire them long for Ramsay to chase, you could see vidosic wasn't happy. this seems to be the overiding opinion off most people , no one in the midield with good vision or someone to play the easy ball forwardCouldnt agree more, our midfield does nothing for our strikers and does nothing for our defenders.I have to agree with a few of the above posts, he made some awesome diagonal runs that weren't spotter or played too late and I think that a player like slory really needs a good playmaker feeding him these sorts of balls, Caravella definetely isn't it, vidosic made some great runs last week that were completely ignored by Caravella as he opted to fire them long for Ramsay to chase, you could see vidosic wasn't happy.
