Bummer.
Sad but true. Received an e-mail from the club an hour ago.
"After the striker's contract was due to expire at the end of the 2023/24 season, the Club explored the opportunity for Hiroshi to remain at Adelaide United.
However, both parties have agreed to mutually part ways at this stage of his career to allow Hiroshi and his family to pursue a longer term opportunity, which is a decision the Club wholeheartedly supports."
Sounds to me like they couldn't agree on the length of the contract.

Re: Hiroshi Ibusuki
I'm getting sick of seeing players who have given great service to the club, being unhappy with the circumstances in which they're leaving. It's bound to happen sometimes but in recent memory Juande, Goodwin and now Hiro have all been unhappy. It just isn't good enough.

Re: Hiroshi Ibusuki
A disaster. Again. AU seems to specialise in this crap. As far back as Dodd. Cassio. Others already mentioned.
Still, after the season he's had, Hiro was probably in demand. The club have a 'loose change' approach to transfers and wages.
Think of what (who) weve lost this year (Gauci, Poppa, Nestor, Ben, Hiro) and imagine trying to fill that gap without spending.
We have a great youth production line, but......!!!

1. An out of form striker that can't hit the side of a barn
2. A right back with a history of injury issues

Re: Hiroshi Ibusuki
And we've just announced that VDS, Barr and Ansell are gone....hold the press!....Warland as well.
Complete clean out of the defence.
This could be very interesting. One assumes there is a plan. Or one doesn't......

Re: Hiroshi Ibusuki
Certainly worrying times, and I'm more hopeful than confident that we do have a plan.
And a good one at that.
Hiro is an interesting one.
I definitely wanted him here next year, and he absolutely deserves it, however at his age - 33, he is probably looking for his last proper payday and some longevity in a contract - and fair enough too.
Would we be happy offering a 3 year deal at his age and see him have the game potentially pass him by after next season?
We don't know, its a risk, but its a risk I'd be willing to take for a 1 or 2 year deal - max - he may rightly want more.
Who knows? I don't.
I think back to when we were gutted that we let Flores go, and didn't then get him back.
But that move allowed us to get Chelo - a move that was definitely the right one, and imo resulted in us winning the championship.
However, for every upgrade, there has certainly been more downgrades over the last few years.
I'm struggling to get motivated for the team at the moment, but I've been going back for a while now, and I'll probably do the same next season - I hope
