I just can't pick our form at the moment. If the 'proper' AUFC turns up, then we belt them. If, however, the tentative and excessively defensive version turns up, then we will be thumped.
Someone on the backline, though, has to take Popovic in hand and start coaching him during the live match, or he will revert to knocking it back to Joe Gauci every time the ball comes near him, which just invites the press and even more pressure. Javi Lopez is named in the squad, but I'm not sure that he is fit enough to see out the whole match, if he starts. One of Javi and Juande has to keep close to Popovic. Otherwise our CB line just splits wide open in the middle.
Something has to be done about ceding the midfield to whoever we play as well. Being muscled out of the midfield dries up the service to the front three; hence our lack of potency in the past month. I want to see the youngsters there - D'Arrigo, Clough, Alagich? - force themselves into the contest and not simply drop off, which was what they did against CCM. If they pick up a card, then so be it; at least it gives us a chance to head forwards, instead of endlessly recycling the ball through the backlines.
So I don't know. Which AUFC will turn up?

Aggressive full backs are key to attacking football..... we dont have that. But that is drawn from a very slow midfield and attack. No point our full backs pressing and attacking when our mids arent keeping up and hiroshi and blackwood run like they wear weighted vests. When that happens you have to have a creative 10....which we dont have.. so basically, we dont have a real format to play. Its just rely on Goodwin and Halloran getting the ball deep when opposition defence is already set, and then hope they do something magical or hiroshi gets on the end of something. Rinse and repeat.

I see it differently.
Popovic is obviously playing it back to Gauci because he sees no options upfield. If he starts playing longer more often when it’s not on we’ll have people (including the coach) complaining that he’s just giving the ball back to the opposition.
I agree that this is an opportunity for a young midfielder to stake a claim for a starting position. But as for the midfield forcing themselves into the contest more (even if they pick up cards), I think that’s what Isaias was trying to do last week and that didn’t turn out so well.
For me it’s the experienced players like Goody and Halloran who I’m looking for to turn our form around.

Well, looks like it's Javi at CB with Panashe on the right.
Wtf is going on with Ansell? Really just a salary thief at this point.
Panagiotis Kikianis makes the bench.
Re: Adelaide United v Melbourne Victory Match Day Jamboree!!!©
Where tf is Ansell? Presumably Barr is injured.
Get rid of Ansell asap. Absolute waste of time.
Milligan is coaching us tonight!

At the other end Gauci passes straight to a MV player and AU is under pressure.
Back under control.
