Adelaide United's 3-4-3 ®

Postby sevengoals Wed Oct 22, 2014 3:05 am

What is remarkable about Gombau’s 3-4-3 is not only that we haven’t seen its like in the A-League, but that it is so much more than just a cookie cutter knock-off of the fabled Barcelona formation, and vastly different to the 3-4-3 that kept Roberto Martinez’s Wigan in the Premier League.
Well there you go.

Good article.

First ive really seen any media apart from sbs not talk this new formation down as a cheaters version of a 343.

Interesting though that gombau says we only played this formation due to injuries. Helps us figure out what our first 11 is

As in not a real 343

Yeah someone on Fox said "it's not a real 3-4-3 because Isaias goes back to make it a back 4 in defence". I sometimes wonder why I pay subscription fees to Fox...

 cracks me up sometimes.

That article was a great read. I do think that we looked much better with a back four when Gomby changed to that in the second half. The 3-4-3 will be a great string in our bow going forward though.

Agreed about the string in the bow.

I'm really impressed with Goumbwow.

There's actually been 3 good articles with analysis of this game, the one above and these 2:
http://www.australiascout.com/2014/adel ... -analysis/
http://leopoldmethod.com.au/adelaide-1- ... e-victory/

Surely there's a market from the big players (Fox, TWG etc) to produce articles like this.
